Mom's Long Walk Home

Alice Marie Marshall, 76, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, transitioned on Sunday, February 8, 2026. She was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on March 24, 1949, to Willie B. Amos.

Alice was preceded in death by her mother, sister, Clementine Diane Hannah, brother, Calvin Hannah, and aunt, Pearl M. Amos.

Alice graduated from the historically Black Langston High School of Hot Springs, Arkansas on May 25, 1967. She went on to receive a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas in 1972 and a degree in Early Childhood Education from the Atlanta Technical College in Atlanta, Georgia.

Alice spent more than 30 years nurturing young minds in the classroom, and even after retiring in 2016, her calling to serve children continued through her volunteer work with the Foster Grandparent Program (FGP), where she mentored and tutored children in schools, Head Start programs, and childcare settings. She found great joy in helping children learn, grow, and believe in themselves, and she lovingly considered every child she worked with a blessing from God. She also faithfully served on Hot Springs Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC), helping shape policies and programs that strengthened the community she so dearly loved. A lifelong, civic-minded servant, she devoted her life to uplifting her community through service, volunteerism, and advocacy for the common good.

Dedicated to the Lord, Alice was a cherished and faithful member of Greater St. Paul Baptist Church. She found joy in worship, fellowship, and serving her church family. Her unwavering faith guided her life, and she shared God's love through her kindness, gentle spirit, and servant's heart. She truly lived a life that reflected her favorite reminder that faith is best shown through love and service to others.

Alice leaves to cherish her beautiful legacy with her loving husband of 51 years, Ennis Irvin Marshall, and her two children, Kendrick and Janese Marshall; and her sister, Essie. She also leaves behind a host of devoted family members, dear friends, and a healthcare team who lovingly cared for her throughout her journey.

The family of Alice Marie Marshall extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Manjusha Kota and her nursing staff and care team for the dignity, patience, and compassionate care they showed our beloved mother. Their kindness brought comfort, peace, and reassurance during a difficult season, and their service will never be forgotten.

Though we mourn her transition, we celebrate a life well lived, a race well run, and a soul now resting peacefully in the arms of the Lord. While her earthly presence will be deeply missed, we rejoice in knowing she has entered into eternal rest.

The funeral service will be held on February 20, 2026, at 10:00 am, with the visitation beginning one hour prior to the service at Greater St. Paul Baptist Church, 497 Crescent Ave, Hot Springs, AR 71901. The burial will follow the service at Friendship Cemetery at the intersection of Shady Grove and Hollywood Street, Hot Springs, AR 71901.
