Life's journey for Anne Virginia Love began on February 18, 1935, in Plainview, Arkansas, when she was born the sixth child of Thomas Love Sr. and Flora Gilkey Love. Anne married the love of her life, the one and only, Mr. Elbert Louis Tollette. This union was blessed with four sons, Gary, Gregory, Rodney, and Randy. She was preceded in death by her aforementioned parents and husband; sister, Waylean Edwards; brothers, Willie Love, Odell G. Love, Sr., Thomas Love, Jr., and Johnnie Love.
When the Love family moved from Plainview to Hot Springs, Anne attended the Historic Langston High School. She was a graduate of the class of 1953. Anne participated in the Langston High School Reunion which started in 1980, and offered her support in creating historical exhibits with the Langstonian Reunion Committee. She served on the memorial committee since the beginning of the reunion. Anne was employed at the Arlington Bath House and later pursued a banking career working for First National Bank for many years until her retirement.
After her retirement, Anne focused on her family, grandchildren and took care of her parents until they passed away. Anne was known as the 'matriarch' of the family. She knew all her family's history and proudly passed the information along to her younger siblings. Anne was a head of her time; she would have given Ancestry.com a run for their money! Family meant everything to Anne and throughout her life she was the organizer of many of the family reunions. Homecomings were held in Danvillle, Arkansas and family reunions in Hot Springs, AR, Houston and Dallas, Texas and Augusta, Georgia. When the family reunions were in Hot Springs, 317 Crescent Avenue was the place be!
Born and raised in the Methodist Church, Anne was a life-time, dedicated member Haven United Methodist Church. She was an usher and sang in the choir, hospitality committee. She was famous at the church for her Jello-o Salad and her Strawberry Salad.
Anne was a longtime member of the Entre Nous Social Club. She was a former secretary, song leader, arts and crafts director and devotion leader. She was very faithful and dedicated to the club.
Anne was gifted with natural talent and creative skills. She was known for her sewing, knitting, crocheting, art and crafts. Many of the things made, she often gave away as specials gifts to family and friends. Gardening was one of her favorite hobbies. Her home was always surrounded by the beautiful flowers that she planted along with a vegetable garden every season. Anne also enjoyed fishing and would spend many hours on the Lake with her family.
Anne traveled many times to California to visit her family. She was very supportive of her siblings and attended their memorable events such as weddings and retirements. It was the trip to Hawaii with her sisters that was one of the most memorable for her.
Anne was called home to glory on December 2, 2019, after an extended illness. She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish memories, her beloved sons, Gary Tollette (Lillian) of Augusta GA; Gregory Tollette (Sarochin) of Round Rock, TX; Rodney Tollette (Carlon) of Hot Springs, AR; Randy Tollette of Hot Springs, AR; one brother, James Love of Pinole CA; sisters, Florene Jones of Houston, TX, Gladys Wilson of San Diego, CA, Irene Price (Roy) of Richmond, CA; a former daughter-in-law whom she loved and respected for fourty years, Mary Kelley Tollette; grandchildren, Gabriel Tollette, Garry Tollette, Crystal Tollette, Taketia Burchette, Parris Tollette, Sasha Tollette, Michael Tollette, Michael Thompson, Rodney Tollette, Jr., LaTosha Tollette, Eric Tollette, Tiffany Tollette, Caliece Hart, Bryan Tollette, Chantelle Tollette, Danielle Tollette, Carlon Tollette, Ashley Tollette, Alphonso Tollette, Derell Tollette, Terell Tollette and a host of great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Haven United Methodist Churrch, 107 Burroughs Street. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 10, 2019 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Guest registry is at http://www.carriganmemorial.com .
