Obituary

Areatha Mae Bohlar-Marshall, age 81 of Hot Springs, Arkansas peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on October 18, 2020, surrounded by her loved ones.  Areatha was born into a large family. She was number seven of nine children born to Frank and Lucy (Skinner) Bohlar. During early adulthood, she relocated to Hot Springs Arkansas, and made it her forever earthly home.

Areatha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John W. Marshall; her brothers, Frank Bohlar Jr., Signaw Bohlar, Eddie Bohlar, and Paul Bohlar; and her sisters, Lula Bradley and Queen Ester Bohlar.

Areatha graduated from the Desha County Arkansas School system. Areatha's valued her faith; to know Areatha, is to know her love for the Almighty God. She could be found singing and giving God praise at the Hot Springs Local Singing Center. She was a dedicated member of the Word Singers and Hearts of Joy chorus groups. She attended and participated in numerous church events and activities, being of service in any way she could. In addition to the talents she utilized in the church, she was also a highly skilled seamstress, cook, and gardener. She also enjoyed sports, helping others in need, and sharing the history of her childhood experiences with others.

Areatha will be remembered by her sons, Larry Sexton of Arkansas, Gary (Cynthia) Sanderlyn and Garrett (Cassandra) Bohlar of California; her daughters Vivian (Chester) Pridgeon and Mary Bohlar of Arkansas; her sisters Bobbie J. Bohlar of  California, Brother Jesse (Lenora) Bohlar of  Arkansas; her sister-in-laws, Wille B. Bohlar of Arkansas, Mary Bohlar of Illinois, and Brownie Bohlar of Michigan; her bejeweled 15 grand-children and 38  great-grand-children, and numerous nephews, nieces, extended family members, friends, and sisterly neighbor Laverne Johnson.
