Obituary

Barbara A. Blackwood, a longtime resident of Hot Springs, Arkansas, transitioned on November 25, 2025, at the age of 78. Born May 26, 1947, Barbara lived a life marked by faith, compassion, and an unyielding love for family, friends, and the countless clients she cared for over more than five decades in the field of cosmetology.

Barbara's presence brightened many rooms and touched many lives. She always greeted others with a warm smile and an open heart, ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her clients were more than customers; they were 50-plus years of connections, trust, and memories. She found great joy in making people feel their best and in the stories shared during those moments of transformation.

A woman of deep faith, Barbara lived by the belief that love, hope, and community are sources of strength. She often spoke of her Lord with gratitude and a steadfast conviction that life beyond this world is eternal. Her favorite scripture, John 3:16, reflected her enduring hope: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." This faith carried her through good times and challenging ones alike and remains a guiding light for those who knew her.

Barbara's family was central to her life. She cherished every gathering, every story shared, and every laugh-filled moment spent with loved ones. She is survived by a devoted family of siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as a loving circle of friends, colleagues, and the many people whose lives she touched through her work.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Virginia, and other cherished relatives; and she was reunited with her precious child, Chad, in the presence of grandparents Gus and Lena Welch, alongside a host of family and friends who welcomed her into eternal peace.

Barbara leaves behind a legacy of generosity: a generous spirit, a willingness to give of her time and talents, and a career built on care, style, and connection. She enjoyed meeting new people, serving them with kindness, and helping wherever she could. Her love for family, her career, and her faith will be remembered with gratitude and affection by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Barbara Blackwood's life was a testament to the beauty of giving, the strength of faith, and the enduring power of love. She may have left this world, but her influence, kindness, and joyful spirit will remain with us always. Till we meet again, Barbara.

Rest in peace. You are loved beyond measure.
