Obituary

Bessie Mae Canady Peoples Washington age 74, of Hot Springs, AR peacefully passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018.  She was born the only child to Mae Ola Canady December 9, 1943 in Forrester, AR(Scott County).

Bessie Mae attended the Historic Langston High School.  She worked for St. Michael's School.  She was a dietician for the Hot Springs School System for many years, retiring from the Hot Springs Middle School.  She later became the owner of Truth of Africa Clothing Boutique. She was a member of Portland Street Church of Christ.  She loved to bowl and was a Master Gardener.

Bessie Mae was preceded in death by her mother, Mae Ola Canady; two husbands, Andrew Peoples, Sr and Albert Roosevelt Washington; her son Andrew "Andy" Peoples, Jr and her daughter, Tonna Samuels.

Survivors include her daughters, Esther Jones and Annette Peoples both of Hot Springs and Willie Mae Jamison of Rockford, IL; cousins who were like sisters, Glenda Evans of Chicago, IL and Ester Samuels of Hot Springs; 13 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Funeral service will be 12:00 PM, Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Airport Road Church of Chist with Brother Sterling Samuels, officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service.

Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery.
