Billy James Andrews, 81, of Hot Springs, AR, transitioned on Thursday, June 25, 2026. He was born on January 23, 1945, in Bedias, Texas, to Macel Dean Harper and Alice Andrews. The family later relocated to Huntsville, Texas, where Billy was raised and adopted by his grandparents, Allen and Della Andrews.

After graduating from High School, Billy moved to San Francisco, California, where he met and married his wife, Sandra Andrews. A dedicated entrepreneur and hard worker, Billy opened and operated his own printing business until his retirement.

Beyond his professional life, Billy was a pillar of his community and a phenomenal little league basketball and baseball coach. The kids absolutely loved playing for him. He possessed a rare gift for helping young athletes reach their highest potential not just on the court or the field, but in life. He deeply valued education, firmly making sure his players kept their grades up so they could stay eligible to play.

Billy’s warmth, humor, and unforgettable personality left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. He was famous for his playful wit, often teasing friends by asking to "borrow 50 bucks," fully knowing they didn't have a dime. A deeply devoted family man, he cherished special moments like the time spent bonding with close friends while assembling a BMX bike for his son Vaughn's 12th or 13th birthday. His vibrant spirit echoed through the neighborhood, where he would boisterously yell his favorite nickname, “HEY RUSTY!!” across the street, a name that Vaughn affectionately adopted as well.

Billy’s passion for sports extended into his free time; he made an annual trip to Scottsdale, Arizona, for Spring Training and avidly followed the Caliente de Durango Mexican Baseball League. He also loved watching his grandson Clayton play every single game he could find. In his daily routine, Billy found great joy in friendly competition, spending his evenings after work playing dominoes with his neighbors, David Marx, and later enjoying spirited matches with his chaplain during their visits.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved son, Vaughn Andrews.

He leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of love, laughter, and mentorship with his wife of 56 years, Sandra, his two grandsons, Myles and Clayton, his in-laws, and the many friends and players whose lives he forever changed.

The Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Carrigan Memorial Funeral Services, Inc., 336 E. Grand Ave, Hot Springs, AR 71901
