Obituary

On April 30th, Brodie Mae McElroy, 84, of Mountain Pine, left this earth to be with her husband Ray McElroy. Brodie was born on November 26, 1939, to Pearlie Hicks and Brodie Bailey in Huttig, Arkansas.

She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age was baptized at Sweet Home Baptist Church, and later became a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Brodie attended high school at Smackover Training School and later went on to be a housekeeper and homemaker.

Brodie's infectious laughter could light up any room, bringing joy to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her fondness for crossword puzzles and fuzzy socks was matched only by her affection for her grandchildren, whom she showered with love, support, and endearing nicknames.

A devoted family woman, Grandma Brodie found happiness in the simple pleasures of life: watching Tyler Perry movies, engaging in heartfelt conversations with her loved ones, and indulging in the occasional pampering session for her nails. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were touched by her kindness, humor, and love. A beautiful, warm, and resolute woman until the very end, rest in peace.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Ray McElroy; a son, Justin McElroy; a daughter, Angela McElroy; two grandsons, Keshon Gilchrist and PJ Daniels; one granddaughter Aleia Socaci; a great-granddaughter, Mariah Walker; two brothers, Adell Bailey, and Aaron Bailey; and three sisters, Cornealous Martin, Norma Jean Johnson, and Birdell B. Smith.

She leaves to cherish her memory, eight children; two sons Ricky McElroy (Mountain Pine, AR) and Vance "June" McElroy (Houston, TX); and six daughters Stacey (Lonnie) DeLaney and Virginia Lafond, both of Hot Springs, LaTonya McElroy, Vera Nevels, Lera Delaney, and Shery Honey, all of Mountain Pine; She is also survived by her sisters Melmaleen Woodruff (Wellington, AL) and Nancy Blacknell (Houston, TX), as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

The visitation will be held Friday, May 10, 2024, from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm at Carrigan Memorial Funeral Service 336 E. Grand Ave Hot Springs, AR 71901. The funeral will be on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11:00 am at Harvey's Chapel Baptist Church 2515 Mtn. Pine Road Hot Springs, AR 71913.
