Obituary

Caesar James Carrigan, 63, transitioned from earth to his heavenly home on Saturday, December 4, 2021, in Tyler, Texas with family by his side. Born January 26, 1958, in Emmet, Arkansas, to the late Matthew Minuite and Lucille Block Carrigan.

At an early age, Caesar joined Antioch Baptist Church, but in his adult years, he joined TCI Texarkana. He attended and graduated from Blevins High School where he was an avid basketball player. After graduation he went on to work at Meyer's Bakery for 19 years. In 1980, he married his high school sweetheart, Debbie Taylor and from this union two sons were born Desmond and De'Vante. Caesar loved to eat but never wanted to cook but with two small children who loved to eat, Caesar began cooking and has been cooking ever since.

Antioch Community had its own sports events such as basketball, softball, and kickball in which the teams in the community were made up of cousins. For softball, we used a regular bat, and the "side of the house" was a wide board for the younger children or for those who just did not know how to play ball in general.  Caesar would hit the ball for the smaller kids, and we would run to the bases. Caesar had a love for all sports, but his favorite team was the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Some family nicknames for Caesar were Shorty Duck, two-piece chicken, muchie, and "if you know you know". Caesar remembered all of his family members' birthdays, sometimes not the date but he knew the month and their age. Caesar was always mischief and when he was a child, he would often hide his shoes, under the bed or outside or under the house or behind a tree, to try and keep from going to church or school.  His mother would always say, "You came in this world without shoes, so you will go with or without shoes." Needless to say, Caesar found those shoes.

Caesar was preceded in death by those who completed the journey before him; his brothers, Charles Carrigan, John Carrigan, and Chester Carrigan; sisters Lorine Carrigan and Wanda Carrigan; grandparents, William "Jack" and Geneva Carrigan and Conway and Valree Block; and a host of extended family.

Caesar is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Debbie Carrigan, of Hope, AR; sons Desmond (Tanekka Brown) Carrigan, of Texarkana, TX and De'Vante Carrigan, of Hope, AR; grandkids Ka'mire and Karter Carrigan; goddaughter Shameika Roberts; brothers, Lonnie R.
