Carol Hayes-Barnett, 53 of Hot Springs, AR transitioned on Sunday, May 05, 2024. She was born on February 15, 1971, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Theoderick and Carolyn Hayes.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Don Barnett.
Carol briefly attended Hot Springs High School before returning to Louisville, where she graduated from Waggener High School in 1990. She continued her education at National Park College, earning certifications in Graphic Design and as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Carol's passion for serving others and her outgoing nature led her to a career at KFC, where she excelled as a General Manager for over 10 years, providing numerous job opportunities to those in her community.
Among her many interests, Carol cherished spending time with her two grandchildren and visiting the casino—a favorite pastime she enjoyed with her mother. She also loved watching daytime TV shows, reading the Bible, and tuning in to church broadcasts, humorously referring to it as "bedside Baptist." Despite her health challenges, Carol remained positive and resilient, often responding to inquiries about her well-being with "I'm blessed and highly favored," a testament to her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. Carol accepted Christ at a young age and was a member of Haven United Methodist Church, where she served on the usher board and volunteered at nursing homes with her youth group. In her adult years, she was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church until her health declined.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Shirletta Harris of Hot Springs, Arkansas; brothers Derrick (Algenette) Hayes of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Theoderick (Monique) Hayes of Louisville, Kentucky, and Terrance Harris of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; sister Ivy (Greg) Hayes of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren Kristiaunna Barnes and Rylan Beasley; nephews Derrick L. Hayes, Jamaal Willis, Jermaine Hayes, Roderick Hayes, and Theoderick "Raymont" Hayes; numerous aunts, cousins, caregiver Ella Bryant, and longtime friend Janie Tecar.
Carol will be remembered for her generous spirit, her dedication to her family and community, and her unwavering faith. She leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The funeral will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 11:00 am, the visitation will be one hour prior to the service at St. Mark Baptist Church 542 Crescent Ave Hot Springs, AR 71901.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for any financial contributions can be made directly to the funeral home to assist with the services.
