Carrie Elaine Witherspoon, 65, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, transitioned on Saturday, April 25, 2026. She was born on March 14, 1961, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence brought joy, laughter, and strength to all who knew her. She entered eternal rest surrounded by the love of her family and the legacy she leaves behind.
Carrie was preceded in death by her father, Manuel Witherspoon Sr.; her sister, Gloria Robinson; and her brother, Charles Witherspoon.
She was a proud graduate of Hot Springs High School and furthered her education at Southern Technical College, where she completed studies in Business, Secretarial, and Shorthand. Carrie was a devoted member of the Seventh-day Adventist faith and remained active in her Christian walk throughout her life.
Carrie had a vibrant and competitive spirit. She excelled in many activities, including baseball, basketball, horseshoes, kickball, and bowling—often outplaying just about everyone. She loved watching football, and her loyalty always remained with her favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys.
Known for her lively personality, Carrie had a signature way of making her presence known. In her high-pitched voice, she would joyfully announce herself with sayings such as, “JESUS, JESUS!” and “No soda pops, no candy, no 7-up cakes. Oh me, me, my—be ready, be ready, be ready. Overcome the flesh, the world, and the devil.” One of her most memorable and playful sayings was, “Are you a witch or a wizard?” These phrases will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved her.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her children: Dorcy Witherspoon, Teresa Witherspoon-Jernigan (Terrance Jernigan), Dewayne Witherspoon, and Michael Holly (Samantha Holly). She is also survived by her siblings: Brenda Anderson, Manuel Witherspoon, Mary Pickett, Louis Witherspoon, Linda Witherspoon, and her mother, Elizabeth Witherspoon.
Carrie’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Dominique Witherspoon, Dorcy Witherspoon Jr., Exzia Witherspoon, Dontay Witherspoon, Bethany Witherspoon, D’Handre T. Jernigan Jr., Ta’vion Holly, Elijah Witherspoon, Na’Rasha Holly, and Ma’Laysha Holly; and her great-grandson, Easton Houston.
The family of Carrie Elaine Witherspoon extends their sincere gratitude to everyone for the love, prayers, and support shown during this difficult time. A special thank you is extended to her church family at Sharon Seventh-day Adventist Church and to Carrigan Memorial Funeral Service for their compassionate care and support.
Carrie’s love, strength, and unforgettable spirit will live on in all who knew her.
The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2026, starting at 2:00 pm. The visitation will be one hour prior at Sharon Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 223 Silver Street, Hot Springs, AR 71901. The burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery, 3200 Spring St, Hot Springs, AR 71901.
