Della B. Burks Murphy Word age 90, of Hot Springs passed away Friday, May 25, 2018.

She was born July 17, 1927 to Belma Burks, Sr and Joanna Rabon Burks in Vienna, LA.  They preceded her in death as well as her husbands, Eddie Lee Murphy, Sr and John Word; children, Anna Rose Wesson and Allen Ray Murphy; her siblings, George Burks, Ollie B. Owens, Belma Burks, Jr Peggy Joe Cotton, Rosa Honeycutt, Rita Taylor Carter.

Della was a member of St. Thomas Baptist Church where she served as a Mother of the church.  She had attended Eureka Baptist Church and Visitors Chapel AME Church.   She was also a member of the Eastern Star.  She was a former employee of Mollie's Restaurant and The Arlington Hotel.

She is survived by her children, Eddie L. Murphy, Jr (Linda) of Milwaukee, WI, Dwayne Murphy and Lou Griffin both of Hot Springs; one sister, Laura McDaniel of San Ramon, CA; one brother, Elbert McGhee of Hot Springs, 18 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Eureka Baptist Church 721 Gaines Street with Rev. Charles Smith, Officiating.  Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday, June 1, 2018 from 5:00 - 6:30 PM at the funeral home.
