Obituary

Donald Ray "Big D" Cooper in his 59 th season of life made a peaceful transition from this walk of life on Friday, February 23, 2018.  He made a grand entrance on April 1, 1958 when he was born to the late Franklin and Aretha Montgomery Cooper in Prattsville, AR.  He was also predeceased by his bonus mom, Freddie Cooper.

After graduating from Prattsville High School he served his country in the United States Army for six years.

After moving to Hot Springs, he became a member of Nazarene Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Brotherhood Ministry and the Male Choir.  He later answered his call to the Ministry to preach the gospel.  He and Debra recently moved to Bryant, AR to be closer to his doctors and they worshiped with Trinity Church in Little Rock under the leadership of Pastor David Walker.

On May 9, 1981 he took Debra Marie Whitaker to be his wife.  Their union was blessed with one daughter.  He also became a father to his nieces and nephews who became his bonus children

Doing his working career, he was employed by Chamber Door, Inc., Keith Smith Company.  He and his wife became owners of D&D Elder Care.

Don loved to hunt, fish and singing.  One of his favorite song was "I'm Going To A City".

Don was a proud family man.  He showered his family with unconditional love until his Heavenly Father called him to rest.

He leaves to cherish to memories his years wife of 36 years, Debra Ann Cooper of Bryant; one daughter, Myesia Cooper of Hot Springs; his grandson, Rah'Mir Cooper who was the pride and joy of his life; his bonus children, Clyde (Laura) Hill, Jr, Shontae (Joe) Early, Jr, Kendria Hill and Kendrick (Dundee) Hill all of Hot Springs; his brothers, James Danner, Franklin (Ruby) Cooper, Gary Cooper, Sr., Darnell (Erica) Cooper, Sr. and Ulysses Cooper Shelita() Cooper all of Hot Springs; his sisters, Betty Danner of Hot Springs and Linda (Grady) Ollison of Malvern; his bonus brothers, Sylvania (Peggy) Lawson of Mt. Pine, Larry Lawson of Hot Springs and Lafayette (Roselle) Lawson of Woodland Hills, CA; a brother-in-law, Danny Martin; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

A celebration of life will be 12:00 Friday, March 2, 2018 at Nazarene Baptist Church 220 Sliver St, Hot Springs, AR.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of service.
