Doris
Littlejohn
Dec 12, 1923 — Oct 25, 2020
Doris Littlejohn, age 96 of Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away on October 25, 2020. She was born to the late Robert and Rosa Cummings Pleasants on December 12, 1923, here in Hot Springs, AR.
Doris attended Douglas Elementary School and the Historical Langston High School. She worked over 30 years as a Bathhouse Attendant at the Lamar Bathhouse in Downtown Hot Springs, a job she took much pride in. She was a very active member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church and a hard worker. She went on to join St. Mary of the Springs Catholic Church.
She loved her flowers and traveling. Her fondest travel memories were of her trip to Switzerland, Hawaii, and Germany. You may remember seeing her walking all over town and that could be because she was very wise and frugal when it came to spending money. On one occasion, her daughter remembers giving her bus money to ride the bus to keep from walking, but her response was that she told her she could keep it and walk. "Mumsey Dear" as she was so fondly called, had a way with words and had many sayings; most we cannot put in writing!
She was the oldest sibling of six children. Those completing their journey before she were her parents, Robert and Rosa Pleasants; husband, James Littlejohn; brother, Robert Pleasants; three sisters, Rose Marie Barron, Emma Jean Grant, and Roberta Butler (and you could always find her with her sisters); grandparents and one grandchild, Henry Smith
Doris is survived by her children; daughter Brendalyn (James) Jacobs, Son Henry Smith. sister Gertrude Russell; grandchildren, JayShawn Phillips, Tory Henry, and Jametrice Jacobs; six great-grand's; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
