Earl Lee Jones Jr., 55, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, godfather, and friend, transitioned on Friday, July 31, 2026, in Little Rock at UAMS, surrounded by love. He was born on October 9, 1970, in Santa Monica, California, to Doris Jean Jones and Earl Lee Jones Sr.
Earl grew up in Malvern, Arkansas, and graduated from Malvern High School in 1988. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Following his service, Earl spent time in Houston before returning home to Malvern on May 16, 1992.
That same year, Earl married his High School sweetheart, LaShelle, and together they built a strong, loving marriage that spanned 34 beautiful years. He was a devoted husband and a proud father to his two daughters, Dy’Sire E. Jones of Conway, Arkansas, and Imerald S. West of Malvern, Arkansas.
One of the greatest joys in Earl’s life was his precious granddaughter, Jhersi Raye. She stole his heart from the very beginning, and the time they shared was full of laughter, love, and treasured memories. He adored her beyond words.
Earl had a passion for fishing and enjoyed the peacefulness it brought him. He cherished every moment spent with family and friends. His warm spirit, steady presence, and genuine heart made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris Jean Jones and Earl Lee Jones Sr.; maternal grandparents Horace and Eddie Mae Ollison, paternal grandparents Clyde and Henrietta Jones, a special uncle, Clyde Jones; and his mentor/father ‘n’ law, Bishop Albert Northcross.
Earl is survived by his loving wife, LaShelle; daughters, Dy’Sire and Imerald; his granddaughter, Jhersi Raye; his siblings, Ronald Jones of Malvern, Arkansas; Brent Shaw-Dena of Rockford, Illinois; Tesa Caldwell-Eric of Atlanta, Georgia; Rashad Jones of Midland,TX; his aunts Joann (Kenneth) Abby of Malvern Arkansas, Sherry (Rick) Reed of Bryant Arkansas, his sisters-in-law; Donita D. Northcross of Benton Arkansas and Latoya A. (Adrain) Cooper of Malvern Arkansas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
He also shared a brotherly bond with Mike Jones, who stood by his side through everything. Whenever Earl needed anything, Mike was there without hesitation.
Earl held a special place in his heart for his loving and supportive mother-in-law, Lady Brenda Northcross, whom he loved as his own mother. Their relationship was filled with mutual respect, deep affection, and unwavering support.
He also leaves behind five godchildren who were dear to him: Eric and Erin Broughton, Sarah Banks, Cedijah C. Peoples and Jahkery Dupree. Earl cherished his role in their lives and loved them deeply.
Earl was blessed to have two special Godmothers who held a meaningful place in his life Jennifer Cook and Thelma Harris.
Earl Lee Jones Jr. will be remembered for his love, loyalty, kindness, and the legacy he leaves in the hearts of all who knew him.
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11:00 am, with the Visitation starting at 10:00 am, both at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 1220 Carmichael Street, Malvern, Arkansas 72104.
