Elder Edward Lee Gordon said good-bye to the troubles of this world on, Thursday, January 2, 2020, when he transitioned from earth to heaven in his home with his beloved wife, Hannah and loving daughter, La'Sonia at his side.
His earthly journey began on, June 11, 1950, in Arkadelphia when he was born to the late, Frank and Bertha Mae Willis Gordon (Ford). He was the second child of six children.
Elder Gordon attended the Historic Langston High School where he loved to play basketball. He worked for the Weyerhaeuser Company for twenty-eight years.
He met Hannah Harrington in 1968, she was the love of his life. They were married two years later, April 28, 1970, and the Lord blessed their union with three beautiful children.
Elder Gordon professed his belief in Christ in 1973, baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost in the Church of God In Christ under the leadership of Elder Raymond Savage. He served at Living Waters Church of God In Christ for many years. In 1988, Elder Gordon accepted his call to the ministry. He was licensed by Elder Savage. Elder Gordon remained steadfast in his faith, working untiredly his entire life. Most of his Christian foundation was in Living Waters COGIC, expect when he had to move from Hot Springs due to medical issues.
In 2010, Elder Gordon was the recipient of a heart transplant and lived a vibrant, happy life until his passing. He was also blessed with the gift of fixing and repairing things. He was known for the saying, "If it was broken, he could fix it."
He was a loving husband who was easy to care for and a joy to his wife, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and just an all-around great saved man of God.
Memories will be constant in the love of his family. He leave tocherish and rejoice in his passing, his loving and devoted wife, Hannah Gordon of Conway; one son, Edward D. Gordon of Hot Springs; two daughters, La'Tosha Hogan of Little Rock, and La'Sonia (Lawrence) Clark of Hot Springs; grandchildren, Matthew Gordon, Joshua Gordon, Tony Hogan, Alexis Hogan, Carlin Fuller, Jr, and DeVonta Fuller; six great-grandchildren; one goddaughter, LaKendra Clark of Dallas, TX; one sister, Ola Mae (Daryl Lee) Mitchell of Milwaukee, WI; four brothers, Supt. Aaron (Gloria) Gordon, Hot Springs, Gary (Jonell) Gordon of Scotts Bluff, NE, Anthony Ford of Hot Springs, and Lonzo (Candice) Ford of Henderson, NV; Grandpa Bailey and the Bailey family of Arkadelphia; the family of his beloved wife; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Living Water Church of God In Christ, 306 Grove Street, Hot Springs, AR, with Supt. David L. Withers, officiating and delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 AM Friday, January 10, 2020, at the church.
