In the year of 1924, on May 11, Elizabeth Cannon Scott was born to the union of Jonas and Ethel Casey Cannon. She was a loving sibling to eight brothers and sisters.
Elizabeth confessed her love for Christ at an early age and was a faithful and dedicated member at James Addition First Baptist Church.
In 1941, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life Willie Scott, Jr., for 67 years. He completed his journey on February 5, 2010; now they are together again. Their union was blessed with six children, Susie Ethel, Freddie Lewis, Van Robert, Joyce Lavern, Beverly, and Shelia Yvette.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Shelia Yvette Scott Wilhite; granddaughter, Samdra Dillard Coleman; four brothers, Dember, Ivory, J.C., C.C.; four sisters, Dossie, Houston, Jeffery, and Pearl.
Elizabeth was a homemaker, farmer, gardener, and motivator of her family. She spent endless days teaching and showing them the importance of education and reaching for their goals. Her independent drive continued until her last days.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her life: two sons, Dr. Freddie L. Scott (Julie), Fayetteville, AR, Rev. Van R. Scott, Greeneville, TN; three daughters, Susie Ethel Dillard (Samuel) Louisville,
KY, Joyce Lavern Craft (Curtis), Hot Springs, AR, Beverly Scott-Chapple, Cotton Plant, AR; one sister, Captola Dunn, Sperry, OK; one sister-in-law, Martha Mitchell, Los Angeles, CA; and a very special grandson and great grandson, Terrance and Tyler Scott; 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, two special friends she called sisters Mrs. Ora Lee Farmer and Mrs. Iretha Stovall, and other extended family and friends.
