Evelyn (Lean) Williams Rogers, 82 a beloved soul, of Texarkana, TX. She transitioned at Christus St. Michaels Hospital with family by her side on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. Evelyn was born on October 25, 1941, in McNab, Arkansas, to her mother, Lelle Bell Williams. Her life was a testament to love, faith, and dedication.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her mother and seven of her siblings.
Evelyn's spiritual journey led her to become a member of Canaan Baptist Church in Texarkana, Arkansas, and she was also a cherished longtime member of Saint Luke Community United Methodist Church.
Education was a cornerstone of Evelyn's life. She was a 1960 graduate of Howard County Training School. She went on to Arkansas A.M&N now being called UAPB and earned her Master's and Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, reflecting her commitment to knowledge and learning.
Evelyn's passion for teaching took her to various places, where she shared her wisdom. She taught school in Haiti, Missouri, Gary, Indiana, and Dallas, Texas, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of countless students.
Beyond the classroom, Evelyn found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a creative spirit, expressed herself through arts and crafts, and enjoyed engaging in various board games. Her devotion extended to her Faithful Sunrise Usher and Choir Member role.
A sports enthusiast, Evelyn was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, proudly supporting her team through thick and thin.
Evelyn shared 35 years of marital bliss with Theodis Ben Rogers. Their love story remains an inspiration to all who knew them.
Evelyn leaves behind a legacy of love and memories, and she will be dearly missed by her survivors: her brother, Ray Williams, nephew, Jason Williams; goddaughter, Kamryn Griffin; cousins, Jerry (Shirley) Griffin, Sundra Hamilton, Pastor Freddie (Linda) Smith; and a host of other family members and friends.
In this time of grief, let us remember and celebrate the beautiful life of Evelyn, a beacon of love, faith, and kindness. May she rest in eternal peace.
The Graveside service will be Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 10:00 am at Chapelwood Memorial Garden 826 N. Kings Hwy Wake Village, TX 75501. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you consider donating to the charity of your choice in honor of Evelyn.
