Geraldine Fisher Simpson after 64 years of a well-lived life passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2019, with her sons at her side. She was born February 25, 1955, in Shreveport, LA to the late, R C and Jessie Mae Sims Fisher. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Johnnie Pearl Lee and a dear friend, Sandra K. Myles-McKenzie.
Geraldine moved from Plain Dealing, LA in 1963, to live with her aunt, Effie Horton. She attended the Hot Springs School System and was a graduate of Hot Springs School Class of 1973. She later attended Henderson State University. Geraldine met the love of her life, Joseph Calvin Simpson, Jr. at Southwestern Bell. They were married on September 23, 1978, until his passing, January 23, 2017. Geraldine retired from Southwestern Bell after 30 plus years of service.
Geraldine was a member of Greater St. Paul Baptist Church. Geraldine loved being a mother to her sons and they enjoyed being there for their mother. They would often be seen driving her around town or making sure that she had plenty of oxygen, whatever the case, one of them was always at her side.
Her memories will be cherished by her sons which are the only African American Quadruplets in the State of Arkansas, Joseph Calvin Simpson, III, Aaron Simpson, David Simpson, and Michael Simpson all of Hot Springs; her sister, Mary Mitchell Collins; her nieces, Lottie Burney, Shirley Parker, Ruby "Tuna" Martin, Cynthia Dawson, Joyce Gaulden, and Kathy Mitchell; nephews, Clyde Lee, Lonnie Lee, and Billy Mitchell; her bonus children whom she respected as her own, Ashley Mitchell, Angelica Perkins, Alliyah Mitchell, and Ariyon and Arielle Mitchell-Perkins and their mother, Sharon Perkins; the family of her late husband; her special family of friends, Rosie Thompson, Betty Lou Wilson, LeAnita Muldrew, Vera Brownlee, and Joyce Ann Smith; and a host of other friends and church members.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 21, 2019, at Greater St. Paul Baptist Church, 397 Crescent Ave with the visitation held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, December 23, 2019, in Crestview Cemetery. The guest registry is at http://www.carriganmemorial.com .
