Obituary

This is His Story

"But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."  Matt. 24:36,  "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance."  Eccl 3:1-2, 4

A Time to Be Born

Monday, March 5, 1962 was an exciting day for LC and Clotiel Lewis Brown. They received a gift that was never forgotten... It was the time Glen Earl Brown was born.

A Time to Die

On Friday, September 18, 2020, Glen peacefully made his earthly transition to be in the presence of the Lord forever and once again be reunited with his loving wife, Claudia who went before him.  Others completing the journey before him were his parents, L. C. Brown Sr., and Clotiel Lewis Brown; brothers, James Anderson and Kenneth Ray Gridley; and a nephew, Charles Hill, Jr.

A Time to Plant

Glen attended Alteimer High School and was a graduate of the Class of 1981; He went on to attend Pine Bluff and Garland County Community College to graduate with a degree in Phlebotomy.  Growing up he worked on the family farm; 10 years at The Arlington Hotel; 5 years at St. Joseph Hospital; 2 years as a newspaper routeman for the Sentinel Record; and the jobs he cherished the most as being a Substitute Teacher for the Hot Springs School District, The Gateman money collector for their sports activities as well as a Mentor.  If there was any type of sporting event for the Hot Springs Trojans, "Mr. Brown", as he was so often referred to, was there on his post no matter what the weather was or how he felt.  He worked through his pain! His health became a challenge and he spent a year on dialysis until his Sister, Linda, donated him a kidney in 1991. But that didn't stop Mr. Brown!  You could usually find him somewhere in the halls or classrooms of the Hot Springs Schools either, substituting, mentoring or just checking in on his kids (and you knew who you were).  He had a love for the Youth that will be an everlasting memory to the many lives he touched.    He was no stranger to the schools nor to the students and his presence will be greatly missed.  He also was a master at the games of Spades, Dominoes and Checkers.

A Time to Serve

He was a faithful member of the Union Missionary Baptist Church Team serving on the Pastoral Care Ministry and Audio-Visual Ministry.    He also brought the sports into the Church.  He would have Basketball games for the Youth of the City (and young at heart), giving them a safe haven to come and enjoy the sports that they loved.  Whatever needed to be done regarding the Youth, Mr. Brown could be depended on and was the go to person.  He was also honored and recognized for serving as a Foster Parent for well over 10 years.  Children and Youth were his heart!

A Time to Love

In 1982, while he was working at the Arlington Hotel, a young lady by the name of Claudia Mae Woods, caught his eye and he went on to marry her on July 23, 1988.  They had a life full of love not only for each other but for their Children.

A Time to Grow

They were blessed with a daughter and son, LaToya and Glen Brown, Jr.  They were later blessed with another son and daughter, Jimmy and Zamor Brown.  The Browns were blessed to be able to care for foster children.  They had several children during their time with the Garland County Foster Care Program.  They also cared for their own nieces and nephews and anyone else who needed a loving family.  If you lived in the Brown's home you were certain to attend church on Sundays and Wednesdays.  They instilled in all the children the need for the Lord and obtain an education.  Glen became known as Mr. Mom, Daycare Daddy and Mr. Brown; titles he wore well.

A Time to Mourn & Rejoice

We do mourn the passing of our dear loved one but we do not mourn as those who have no hope.  We do rejoice in the fact that we will see our loved ones again.  His departure has left a lasting impression in the hearts of his loving children, Latoya Brown (who moved back home to care for her Mother and Father), Glen Brown, Jr., Zamor  Brown and Jimmy Brown; one grandson, Gavin Brown; two nieces raised as daughters DWanna Woods Reddick and LaTasha Meadows; two special  children that became as daughters Stacie Smith and Shayletha Nolen; a host of foster children, nieces, nephews his Union Missionary Baptist Family, a host of extended family and friends.

Time to Receive His Reward

Lord, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith.  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which my Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me on this day; and not only to me, but unto all of you love his appearing.

He has said unto me: Well done, good and faithful servant; You have been faithful over the few things I have entrusted to your care, now I will make you ruler over many things; enter now unto the joy of your Lord.
