Obituary

Harvey Hammock, Jr., 84 of Hot Springs, AR. passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022. a Louisiana native was born November 22, 1938, to the union of Harvey Hammock, Sr., and Viola Hammock.

Harvey worked for Humphrey's Motors and Duke's Oil for many years, where he detailed cars and had many happy customers. He always kept busy, loved to make those around him smile, and tried to ensure they knew God.

Harvey moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas, where he joined Union Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Douglas E. Jones and was ordained as a deacon. Deacon Harvey was a faithful and diligent servant and was known for his fashionable suits and a big smile, and he loved to praise the Lord.

In 2007, he met the second love of his life, Ethel Young Hammock, better known as "Fay," and after a few months, they were married and lived together in marital bliss for 15 years. During their union, Deac and Fay loved to travel to Arizona where they soon found a home of their own and lived for 9 years.

Spending time with kids, grandkids, and friends attending church, they lived full and eventful lives until Harvey's health began to fail him. They often spoke of their marriage saying, "Where you see me, you see her, and where you see him you see me." Harvey's health began to fail him early in 2022, and after many changes and adjustments, he was admitted into Lakewood Nursing home where he ultimately left this life moving from labor to reward. Deacon Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, and daughter Helen.

He leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife Ethel (Fay) Young Hammock; Children, Gail Hammock (Rose), Reginald Hammock (Jatansha), Brenda Hammock, and Christine Wright; Stepchildren, Ricky Young, Arthenia (Kerry) Newburn, Steve Young, Contessa Young (JD), and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren nieces, nephews, friends, and church family.
