Obituary

Inez Cooper Milsap made her peaceful transition on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at the age of 79.  She was born January 11, 1941, in East Carroll Parish, LA to Frank and Pearl Jones-Cooper, Sr.  They preceded her in death as well as her husband, Booker T. Milsap; two step-daughters, Karen and Cynthia Milsap; three siblings, Charlene Cooper, Totsie Cooper, and Frank "Bubba" Cooper, Jr; niece and nephew, Andrea and Kenneth Scott; her in-laws, Sam Milsap, Azrie and Clyde Vassel, Stella Milsap, Gerald McDonald, Bill and Christian Milsap, and Thurman Clemons, and her furry child, Amber.

Inez was a graduate of the Historic Langston High School Class of 1959.  She attended Knoxville College of Knoxville, TN. She moved to Chicago, IL and secured employment with National Association Fire Extinguisher Division for over 20 years.  She later worked for the Illinois Institute of Technology.   She met and married, Booker T. Milsap on May 2, 1970, their marriage was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Regina.  Booker T. was a widower with four small children.  Inez took on the responsibility of being a mother to five children and they became a blended family.  After living in Chicago for over 40 years, Booker T. passed away November 1, 2004, Inez relocated back to her hometown.

Inez was a former member of Lillydale Progressive Baptist Church in Chicago.  She was a member of the Evergreen Club. Upon relocating back to Hot Springs she joined the family church, Nazarene Baptist Church.  She was a faithful member and supporter.   She loved gardening, reading, and cooking for her family.

Those left to remember her in love include her devoted daughter and caregiver, Reginia Milsap; step-sons, Bryon and Teddrick Milsap; her sisters, Willye Cooper-Martin, Nannette Cooper-Scott, and Barbara L. Cooper; her in-laws, Maxine Milsap, Ike and Phyllis Milsap, Lucious Milsap, Hattie McDonald, and Ammie Clemons; a host of nieces, nephews, including, Keith Scott, Angel Calhoun, Aprille Martin, Frank "Buzzie" Cooper,Jr, Margaret Cooper, and Melissa Cooper-Ricks, and extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 22, 2020, Nazarene Baptist Church. She will be laid to rest with her parents in Crestview Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM prior to the service and open visitation will be Friday from 12:00 – 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
