Obituary

James "Jim" Doyle Honold Jr., 74, of Hot Springs passed away on February 3, 2022, in Hot Springs, AR. Jim was born to Doyle and Willia Honold on April 23, 1947. Jim and his brother, Dennis grew up in Harbor City, CA. Jim discovered his love of antiques as a teenager, going to swap meets with his mother, which blossomed into a lifelong passion. He founded Gramophone Antiques in Boulder Creek, CA where he also met lifelong best friend Dave Goodwin more than 50 years ago. In the early 70s, Jim relocated to Arkansas where the family ties are strong with generations of Honolds and Spencers. While in Arkansas, his career involved picking treasures back east on trips to New York and bringing them back to the south to sell at shows, in his shop in Malvern, and at auctions. Another significant talent he had was the restoration and refinishing 19th Century Antiquities.

Jim's marriage with Karen was truly one for the books. They spent all of their time together and worked side by side for their entire relationship. Most would say that they were attached at the hip. They enjoyed cruising and looked for any excuse to throw a party to feed and entertain their friends and family. They had a nightly tradition of watching the World News followed by Wheel of Fortune. There are very few couples who could spend every waking moment with each other, but they wouldn't have had it any other way. Karen was truly his soulmate.

Jim will be forever loved and remembered by his wife of 32 years, Karen, his children, and their spouses Meagan and Brian Tucker, Jim and Lisa Honold, Brandon and Angel Honold, and Chris and Victoria Honold, his mother Willia, his 9 grandchildren: Heather, Jacob, and Dylan, Lauren, Luke, and Collier, Madeline and Abigail, and Addison, and his 2 great-grandchildren: Anistyn and Rhett. Preceding him in death was his father, James Doyle Honold; his brother Dennis.

Jim was a great cook and never met a piece of meat he couldn't barbecue to perfection, especially chicken! Jim also loved family time, especially family "bonding" time, which most certainly meant work! He especially enjoyed Popcorn, crabbing, and his dogs!

Jim was Jim…Always

Picking up rocks on Christmas Day!

Tip you over in the canoe just to see what you'll do

Slow and Steady…go all-day

Could Pack a trailer like no other

Smooth as a baby's butt

"Whoo!" just to wake you up!

Master eye…can find the hidden gem!
