Obituary

Jessie Mae Cornilous was born May 2, 1948 in Little Rock, AR to Zack and Jessie Ford Cornilous. In her 69 th season of life she slept peacefully away in the comfort of her home on Friday, April 13, 2018.

Jessie Mae attended Coleman High School in Pine Bluff, AR and the Historic Langston High School in Hot Springs, AR.

Jessie Mae had a call from God on her life at an early age, even before she could speak. She had a street corner church, preaching to everyone. She prayed for children, her nieces and nephews. She was proud to say she was a "lifetime member" of Union Missionary Baptist Church.

Jessie Mae moved away to Bowie, MD to live with her daughter, Sandy for five years. While there she attended Woodstream Baptist Church. As soon as she returned to Hot Springs she was often seen carry her bible with plenty of yellow sticky notes, an indication that she had been studying the word of God.

Jessie Mae never met a stranger.  Even if she knew your name she always said "Hey Baby". She loved her fashions and the color purple. She loved to walk and drink natural spring water, birds, reading her bible and praying. Jessie Mae lived her life to the fullest, she loved to dance and enjoyed her extracurricular activities She loved all her children. Her two sons were "mama boys" and when they were boxing she didn't miss a fight

She was predeceased by aforementioned parents, grandson, Dalvin Everett; sisters, Laura Cornilous, Lee Wanna Famous and Ivory Curtis;brothers, Chris Smith and Johnny Walker.

She leaves a lasting impression in the hearts of her children, Sandy Mosby of Bowie, MD, Tony Cornilous (Stephanie Medley) of Suitland, MD, Bernard Jefferson, Jr of Hot Springs, LaCretia Maxwell-Holloman of Fayetteville, NC and LaTasha Carter (James O'garra) of Springlake, NC. She also leaves behind the love of her life, Jimmy Wesson of Hot Springs; 13 grandchildren, Brittany and Brandon McLemore, De'Vandrick Wall. Anthony Cornilous, Bernard Jefferson, III, Aaris Jefferson, Sr., Hakeem Hannah, Tavaras Haywood, Laquavions Holloman, Laquallys Holloman, Sytenchia Holloman-Nico (Richard), Darius Carter and Darian Everett; 6 grand great grandchildren, Aaris Jefferson, Jr, Tray-vian Jefferson, Major Armani Nico known as Baby Isaiah by his great grandmother, MaKenzie Smith, Marquis McLemore and Ar'money Cornilous. Her niece and nephews, Terry Cornilous, Demetrice Coleman, Barbara Famous, Ray Famous, Merraye Famous, LaRon Famous and Andre Dunson, a host of great nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Union Baptist Church 219 Guilpha Street. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Open visitation will be from 12:00 – 5:00 PM Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the funeral home.

The family will be at 144 Bayard Street
