Obituary

Sunset and evening star, and one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, when I put out to sea.

Jessie Farrar Guy, III was a son, husband, brother, father, pawpaw, uncle, cousin and a friend to many.

Jessie peacefully slept away on Sunday, April 23, 2017. He was born January 17, 1960 in Hot Springs to Jesse Guy, Jr. and Valtee Thomas Guy.

Jessie received his education in the Hot Springs School District. He was an avid basketball fan and played throughout his Junior and High School years. He was a graduate of Hot Springs High Class of 1978. After graduation he made a career in the United States Marine Corp. Jessie was proud to serve his county.

Jessie was a faithful member of Cottrell Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. He exhibited his faith as the church drummer, Steward, Lay President and as a servant. Jessie was always available and willing to do whatever he could at the church.

After his retirement from the military Jessie became a personal licensed barber and was always well groomed. He loved to dress to impress.

Those completing the journey before him include his parents, Jesse, Jr. and Valtee Guy; one sister, Nina (David) Cavener.

He leaves a lasting impression in the heart of his wife of thirty-five years, Audrey Bryant Guy of Hot Springs; son, Courtney (Tiffany) Guy of North Little Rock; daughters, Niesha Guy of Chicago, IL, Jamiesha Guy of West Memphis, AR and Jessica Guy of New Orleans, LA; one brother; Charles (Marlena) Alexander of Chicago, IL; one sister, Leontyne (Glasper) West of Little Rock; one aunt, Hazel (Leon) Scott of Chicago, IL; mother-in-law, Yvonne Lowe of Hot Springs; sisters and brothers in-love, Larry (Shirley) Duncan, Rhonda Hadley, Anita (Terry) Clingmon, seven grandchildren, Tajh Guy, Makale Guy, Amari Guy, Aniya Guy, Shaniya Harris, Josiah Harris and Micah George; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, including, Lanetta Bryant whom he consider as a daughter and Oscar Marie Miller.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Cottrell Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. 698 East Grand Ave. Open visitation will be Friday, April 28, 2017 from 12:00 – 5:00 PM at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be 10:00 AM, Monday, May 1, 2017 in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, North Little Rock with full military honors.
