Joe Nathan Hicks Jr., 40 of Hot Springs, Arkansas transitioned on Thursday, July 20, 2023, and was born on February 20, 1983, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to Joe Nathan Hicks Sr and Princess Lavette Holliman-Hicks.
From an early age, Joe embraced his faith and was baptized at Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. Throughout his life, he touched the hearts of many with his warmth, kindness, and infectious smile.
During his high school years at Hot Springs High School, Joe's athleticism shone brightly. He excelled on the football field and also showcased his talents in basketball and boxing under the guidance of the late Willie McCoy at the Boys and Girls Club. Joe's passion for sports led to numerous awards and trophies, leaving a lasting legacy in his community.
Beyond sports, Joe had a flair for culinary arts. His love for cooking was undeniable, and he was recently accepted into the prestigious Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts, a testament to his dedication and talent.
Joe's magnetic personality drew people to him effortlessly. He had an unparalleled ability to make those around him laugh and feel at ease. Known for his leadership qualities and willingness to help others, Joe was a pillar of support to friends and family alike. No one was a stranger to Joe; he had a unique gift of making everyone feel loved and cherished.
As we mourn his loss, we remember with fondness those who preceded Joe in death: his beloved mother, Princess Woods, grandparents, Queen and A.D. Holliman, grandmother, Roberta Penny, grandfather, George Hicks, brother-in-law Sidney Reed Jr., and special cousin William Dean Hicks Jr. (Nueki).
Left to cherish his loving memories are his father, Joe Hicks Sr. (special friend Kathy Sharp), all of Hot Springs. Arkansas. his two daughters, Briunna Hicks of Dallas, Texas, Stefanique Walker of Little Rock, and his brother William (Robin) Hicks of Hot Springs Arkansas. his sisters Tiffany (Roy Jr.) Wells, Teakqwanda Cherie Reed, both of Hot Springs, Arkansas Lauren M. (Corey M., I) Heard of Stephens Arkansas, his aunts; Joyce Smith Minnie Flint both of Hot Springs, Elouis Hicks of Detroit, MI., his uncles Lee ( Wilma) David Gill of Arkadelphia, AR. Roosevelt Hicks, Ronnie Hicks, Lenon Hicks all of Hot Springs Ar. His two grandchildren, Henri Florence Jr. and Bri'Laya Florence of Dallas, Texas. Family. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his beloved God-daughter Diamond Crymes.
The visitation will be Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 11:00 am. The Funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon at Holy Ghost Headquarters 1900 Hobson Ave Hot Springs, AR 71913.
