John L. Watson, Jr. in his 59th season of life made his earthly transition on Thursday, July 6, 2017 in Louisville, KY. He was born May 2, 1958 in Hot Springs to John and Carol Craven Watson, Sr. His father preceded him in death as well as a son, Joshua Watson and a sister, Cheryl Watson.
He was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School in Battle Creek, MI. John was a hardworking man having been employed with, Felpausich Grocery Store in Battle Creek, MI, Mercy Hospital in Iowa. He was employed with the race track industry for over 24 years. John was a veteran of the United States Army.
His memory will be cherished by his wife, Pamela Whittaker Watson of Sherwood; his mother, Carol Watson of Greensboro, NC; his children, John L. Watson, III, Joseph Richard Watson and Dennis Jordon Watson, all of Battle Creek, MI; Jessica Marie Watson of Sherwood, Sheryl Melisa Watson of Benton and Justine Marie Watson of Hot Springs; his siblings, Arlene, Nina, Herman Watson all of Battle Creek, MI, Dennis Watson of Greensboro, NC, David Watson, Cynthia Ransom of Gary, IN and Vanessa (Frank) Thompson of Hot Springs; six grandchildren, Anthony Yorell McClendon-Watson, Nomahara Hardwell, Kendall Devaughn Baugh, Aliyana Kamour Baugh, Avianna JaMarie Watson and, A'lannah Sheri Watson and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Friday, July 14, 2017 in the Oaklawn Chapel of Oaklawn Race Track. Visitation will be Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be 10:00 AM Monday, July 17, 2017 at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, North Little Rock, AR.
