Johnnie Lee Taylor, 76, of Hot Springs, AR, transitioned on Friday, September 20, 2024. He was born on January 1, 1948, in Pickens, Arkansas, to Sonnie Binns and Millie Lewis.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, along with two brothers Elijah Ricks & Otis King, and one sister Fannie Lewis.
Johnnie married Linda Jean Burns Taylor, beginning a partnership filled with love, laughter, and a shared devotion to family. He had a deep commitment to his family, and his community, and a passion for yards, lawns, and his Black Dodge Ram. He was a devoted member of Union Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a proud Usher, and a STRONG Greeter until his health began to fail. Johnnie was a faithful supporter of the late Pastor Douglas E. Jones (his brother-in-law) and current Pastor Corey D. Scott.
Johnnie is survived by his loving wife, Linda Burns Taylor of Hot Springs, AR; his children: Ronnie (Gloria) Lewis of Spokane, WA; James (Elesyia) Evans of Atlanta, GA; Joyce (Sambra) Carter; Shanquita Taylor both of Monticello, AR; Shenee Taylor of Jacksonville, AR; Markeesha Adams of Milwaukee, WI; Shanika (Jermaine) Butler of Memphis, TN; Johnny (Ebony) Taylor Jr. Tulsa, OK; and Chalette Burns of Warner Robins, GA. He is also survived by his siblings: Jimmy Lewis of Dallas, TX, and Corene King of Kansas City, MO; sisters-in-law: Gladys Jones of Hot Springs, AR, Eula Foster of South Haven, MI, Florence Davis of Whittaker, NC, Dorthy Singleton of Memphis, TN, and Bertha (Joe) Sorrells of San Antonio, TX.
Additionally, Johnnie leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and cherished friends, including Larry Steward, Emma Steward, and Lacey Griffith, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The visitation will be Friday, September 27, 2024, from 2:00-5:00 pm at Carrigan Memorial Funeral Services. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Union Missionary Baptist Church 219 Gulpha St. Hot Springs, AR 71901. The burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery 3077 East Grand Ave Hot Springs, AR 71901.
