Obituary

Josephine Delores "Red" Dooley, age 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Surrounded by her loving family, friends, and dedicated nurses, Josephine left this world to join her heavenly rest. She was born on May 2, 1932, in Ansley, Louisiana, to her beloved parents, Charlie and Delsie Hill.

Delores is preceded in death by both her parents, her sons, Gary Dooley and Tony Hill, her sisters Celestine McCrainey and Virginia Lewis, as well as her brothers Charlie Hill Jr., James Hill, Clyde Hill, and Carl Hill.

In the 1950s, Josephine relocated to Hot Springs, where she met and married the love of her life, Thomas Dooley, who preceded her in death. Josephine was a dedicated homemaker who found joy in cooking, gardening, and decorating her home for various holidays throughout the year.

Josephine's legacy lives on through her cherished family, including her son, Dewayne Dooley, and her six daughters: Cassandra Dixon, Gwendolyn Boyd, Tammie Hill, Tommie Dooley, Tina Dooley, and Pamela Forte. She will be lovingly remembered by her fourteen grandchildren: Nina Dixon, Larry Marshall Jr., Celestine Kwanza Hollis, Alonzo Boyd, Anthony Hill, James Hill, Contessa Franklin (Anthony), Courtney Dooley (Cris), Donovan Beard, Walter Edwards (Nikki), Alexisa Dooley, Ricky Johnson, Jonathan Forte, Jerry Barnett, and Alberta Barnett. Additionally, Josephine leaves behind twenty-two great-grandchildren: Yasmin Moore, Cadence Hill, Memory Atkins, James Hill Jr., Keishon Hill, Juno Hill, A'lyric McDaniel, Quindaren Allen, Mikayla Kelly, Unique Hill, Theodois Gordon Jr., Taevon Gordon, Trent Gordon, Kasandra Marshall, Aaliyah Marshall, Samara Marshall, CJ Marshall, Alena Roberts, Zaylayla Roberts, Kamya Roberts, and Raheem Roberts. She also had multiple great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who held a special place in her heart.

The family of Josephine Delores Dooley would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Anthony Hill, Pamela Forte, Nina Dixon, and Denine Hill for their unwavering care and support during Josephine's time of need. Their presence and assistance were a source of comfort and strength. The family would also like to extend their sincere appreciation to Carrigan Funeral Home and Visitors Chapel for their invaluable assistance during this difficult period. Your kindness and professionalism will forever be remembered.

The visitation will be Friday, May 26, 2023, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Carrigan Memorial Funeral Service 336 E. Hot Springs, Ar.  The Funeral service will be Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 10:00 AM Visitors Chapel A.M.E. Church 319 Church Street Hot Springs, Arkansas 71901.
