Obituary

Junie W. Haywood, 85, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, peacefully transitioned to her eternal home on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Born in Gould, Arkansas, she was the beloved daughter of Walter Watkins & Versie Lee Hudspeth.

Junie was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Dorise Johnson and Lorenzo Johnson, grandson Jeffery Stephens & daughter Bridgett Minor. Though her physical presence will be missed, her love and legacy live on through generations.

Junie's journey of faith began at Pilgrim Progressive Church in San Diego, California, where she first accepted Christ. Her spiritual walk led her to Union Missionary Baptist Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where she continued to serve the Lord faithfully. Her personal relationship with God was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her every step.

A woman of many talents, Junie wore many hats with grace, working in retail management, home health care, and becoming a licensed dietary manager. But more than titles or achievements, what truly mattered to her was nurturing the relationships she held dear—with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

Known for her wisdom and wit, Junie loved to "hold court" on the porch, where she shared stories, laughter, and life lessons with anyone who stopped by. She had a deep love for gardening and flowers, finding joy and peace in nature's beauty.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving sister Carrie Jean McKnight; one devoted son, Micheal; two loving daughters, Versie and Toya; 8 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. Junie also shared a special bond with her sisters in Christ: Jan Scott, Ethan Martin, and Rosella Brown; and her goddaughters Paula Crain and Latanya Kennedy.

Her life was a living testimony of grace, strength, and faith. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever bloom in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her favorite Bible scripture was Psalm 23.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23
