Obituary

Leonard Wayne Meeker, lovingly known as “Len,” passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, at the age of 82. He was born in Yuma, Arizona, on February 14, 1944, and lived a life centered around faith, family, service, and love.

Leonard was a devoted member of Unity Full Gospel Church, where he faithfully attended and enjoyed worshipping alongside his church family and pastor. Known for his warm smile and kind spirit, Leonard never met a stranger. He especially loved sharing laughs and conversations with friends and family, and his presence brought comfort and joy to those around him.

Leonard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for eight years. Following his military service, he worked most of his life as an engineer, dedicating himself to hard work and providing for the people he loved.

In his free time, Leonard enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, traveling, and spending time outdoors grilling with family and friends. One of his greatest passions was supporting the Cutter Morning Star Eagles Basketball. If you ever attended a CMS basketball game, you likely heard Leonard cheering proudly from the stands. He was a loyal supporter and advocate for the players and community for many years.

Above all else, Leonard’s heart revolved around God and family. He loved his children and grandchildren deeply and treasured every moment spent with them. Even during his courageous battle with bladder cancer and leukemia, Leonard remained strong and uplifted by the love and support surrounding him. Small gifts, encouraging words, and the constant presence of his loved ones meant the world to him. He was especially touched by the support shown by the CMS students and community, who encouraged him throughout his illness.

Leonard leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving partner of 24 years, LaDonna Watkins of the home; his three sons, Brandon Henson of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Rich Hughes of Davenport, Iowa, and Daniel (Megan) Bailey of Bauxite, Arkansas; his daughter, Alisha Bailey of the home; Lokelani ( Jordan ) Bates of Pearcy Arkansas ; brother-in-law Colt Sharp of Hot Springs.

He also leaves behind his beloved grandsons: Cannon Henson, Carson Bailey, Rylan Bailey, Rustin Hix, and Brixon Bates; God grandsons, Sawyer Odom and Channing Alexander; one granddaughter, Kealyn Hughes; and God granddaughters, Gracie Kelly and Addison Alexander.

Leonard is also survived by his great-niece, Selena Sharp, who lived in the home, along with one niece, Amy (Jimmy) Willis, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

Though Leonard’s earthly journey has ended, his love, laughter, strength, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

The Memorial Service will be held on May 16, 2026, at 1:00 at Unity Full Gospel Church, 631 Crystal Hill Rd, Hot Springs, AR 71913.
