Leontyne (Tina) Crutchfield was born January 12, 1936 in Paroloma, Arkansas to the union of John Neal and Coretha Grundy Neal. The Neal family later moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas settling on the fabled Gaines Avenue where she grew up with twelve sisters and brothers.
Tina was baptized at the historic Eureka Baptist Church by Rev. M. T. Tucker. Upon her return to Hot Springs, she joined the Haven United Methodist Church. She exhibited her faith by serving on the hospitality committee and the pastor's aide committee. Tina attended the Goldstein Elementary School and was a proud graduate of "The Historic Langston High School" class of 1954.
Tina was married to Robert Alfred Crutchfield, Sr. (deceased) and to this marriage two children were born, Donna J. Crutchfield and Robert (Bobby) Crutchfield, Jr.
The family later relocated to Chicago, IL where Tina lived for twenty-nine years. She was a career employee for Sears Roebuck and Company. Upon retiring from Sears, Tina returned to Hot Springs where she was employed by the Garland County Tax Collectors office until health issues caused her to retire once again.
Tina was active in the Boys and Girls Club of Hot Springs where her grandson, Corey Melton was a member. She was also a former member of the Entre Nous Club and active with the Foster Grandparents Program.
The Lord called Tina home on April 1, 2019. She leaves to honor her legacy, daughter, Donna J. Crutchfield of Chicago, IL; son, Robert (Bobby) Crutchfield, Jr. of Hot Springs; grandchildren, Rodney Jermaine (Tianna) Crutchfield; Bobby Crutchfield; Corey (KoKo) Melton and ten great grandchildren; sisters, Helen Ward of Chicago, IL, Cozetta King of Bellwood, IL, Jerri Neal Cotton of Chicago, IL, Shirley (Clifton) Butler of Las Vegas, NV ,and Leanita (Darryl) Muldrew of Hope, AR; brothers, Arthur (Ardelia) Neal of Maywood, IL, and Diallo Omavi of Las Vegas, NV; sister-in-law, Rose Neal,
Lexington, MS and, Naomi Neal of Fayetteville, NC; a host of nieces and nephews who adored her. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Ardella Washington, John (Pete) Neal, Jr., Charles Neal, Monte Neal, Sr. and, Gilbert Neal; two great grandchildren, Katina and Jasmine Crutchfield.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Haven United Methodist Church, 107 Burroughs Street, Hot Springs. Visitation will be Friday from 5:30 – 6:30 PM at the funeral home.
