Lois Mae Dendy Jones at the tender age of 86 passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, May 7, 2019. She was born November 30, 1932, in Altheimer, AR to the late, Samuel and Elizabeth Atkinson Dendy.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Nathan "Jack" Dendy; siblings, Queen Ester Withers, Edward, John and Samuel Dendy.

In her early years she married Eddie Jones and they remained friends until his death.

Lois grew up in Altheimer and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Altheimer High School.  Lois moved to Hot Springs at the age of 21 and has been a longtime resident.  She retired from Lake Catherine Footwear.  She was known as mother, mama, mom, granny, and aunt.  Whatever the name she loved her family and grandchildren.  Not only did she take care of her family, she was known as the neighborhood day care.

She leaves a lasting impression in the heart of her three daughters, Brenda (Melvin) McCray of Palestine, TX, Vanessa (Frank) Thompson and Priscilla Lewis all of Hot Springs; her siblings, Nathan (Delois) Dendy of Little Rock, Violet Dendy of Hot Springs, Patricia Dendy of Marvell, and Emily Dendy of Pine Bluff; her daughters-in-law, whom she loved, Janice Dendy, Vivian Dendy and Sandra Dendy; 10 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Gethsemane Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery.  Visitation will be today from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the church.
