Lonnie Lee
Long, Jr
Apr 12, 1972 — Aug 14, 2025
Lonnie Lee Long Jr., 53, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2025. He was born on April 12, 1972, in Hot Springs at Ouachita Hospital to Lonnie Lee Long Sr. and Linda Sue Mayberry Long.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents, Leroy and Faye Mayberry; and his grandparents, Roy and Opal Long, as well as his granddaughter, Ava Hornaday, and many other cherished family members.
Lonnie attended Mountain Pine School. He dedicated many years of his life to Chem Fab as a painter and worked in construction, hanging red iron buildings, gas stations, and countless other projects. Known for his love of family and friends, his sense of humor, his stubborn streak, and his generous spirit, Lonnie would help anyone in need. He would even give the shirt off his back. After losing his legs in 2016, he let nothing stop him. To his loved ones, he was best known simply as "Boo."
Lonnie loved his family deeply and lived his life with a strong faith in God. An active member of The Way Church, he found joy in fellowship and could often be heard quoting Scripture. Throughout his life, he attended several churches, but in recent years, he was blessed by his time with Calvary Pentecostal Church with Pastor J. Motes and, in his later days, Pastor J. Davis and his church family at The Way Church.
His hobbies reflected his love of the outdoors and time spent with loved ones. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, grilling, singing, and even karaoke on occasion. Lonnie had a gift for telling jokes, making people laugh, and never meeting a stranger. His heart for others and his kindness will be remembered forever.
Lonnie leaves his cherished memories to his devoted wife, Sherry Owens Long; his son, Nicholas Lee Long; his daughters, Alyssa (Brat Face)Dawn Buffington Long, Nakia (Monkey)Rain Long, Trey Jenkins, Brittany Fox, and Kimberly Fox; five grandchildren, Keianna (Kie Kie)Jenkins, Astrea Fox, Lennon Hornaday, Leon Hornaday, and Gabriel Miller; his mother, Linda Sue (Tommy) Guthrie, of Bismarck; his brother, Tommy Long of Hot Springs; and his sister, LaDonna Fay "Mother Hen" (Tony) Johns, of Mountain Pine.
