Loretta Ann Denton in her 49 th season of life passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2019. She was born June 19, 1970, in Chicago, IL to Earnest and Earnie Mae Post Denton, Sr. She was the youngest of eight children born to their union. They preceded her in death as well as her brothers, Larry Denton, and Sylvesta Lewis Denton.
Loretta was known as "Mama" to her children, "GiGi" to her doting grandson, and "RoRo" to her family.
She was a beautiful, energetic and a smart child whose smile could light up a room. She attended Dodge Elementary School. She as a 1988 graduate of Crane High School. She was active in the marching band. She was known as a great skater. Loretta and her parents moved to Hot Springs shortly after her graduation. She attended Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, AR. She later joined the United States Army and received an honorable discharge.
Loretta had a great work ethic throughout her life. She worked for the Arlington Hotel, Oaklawn Elementary School and was presently employed with Oaklawn Casino & Gaming.
She was a former member of St. Stephens African Methodist Epsicopal Church in Chicago, IL. She and her children were former members of Eureaka Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Steve R. Lake. She was a member of the choir and loved traveling out of town with the church.
Loretta's passing has left a void in the heart of many, but her memories will forever be cherished by her two lovable children, Quentin Haywood of Jonesboro, GA ,and Candice Haywood of Hot Springs. They were a joy to her. Loretta worked hard to provide for her children and she was very proud of the adults they hade become. On September 5, 2016, Loretta became a "GiGi", to a handsome, funny, and intelligent baby boy, Ayden Payne, the little love of her life. She often said, "She did not know she could love someone so much". Also left to cherish her memories are her siblings, Earnest (Warline) Denton, Jr. of Chicago, IL, James Denton of Houston, TX, Lee Arthur Denton of Chicago,IL, Janice (Warren) Hoard of Chicago, IL and Joice Howard (Greg) of Jacksonville, FL; a special niece raised as her sister, Tashiba (James) Banks of Hot Springs and her children, Malik, Sr., Tamarkus, and Ariana Guinn; great-great niece and nephew, Malik, Jr. and Mayia Guinn; a host of other special nieces, nephews and extended family and friends that she loved very much. She had a special sister-bond with Corretta Jones of Memphis, TN, they were known as, "Loco."
Funeral service for Loretta will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 15, 2019 at the Historic Eureaka Baptist Church, 721 Gaines Street with Dr. Steve R. Lake, officating and Elder Tony Catchings of Chicago, IL will deliver the eulogy. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until service time.
