On February 17, 1950 Louis Charles Calloway Sr. was welcomed into the world by his parents Arthur Calloway, Sr. and Mattie Lee Riley. Louis worked in various fields. He was a sheriff in Southern California, a baker in Southern Arkansas, and retired as machine operator from Pactiv in Malvern AR. Louis is best known for his barbeque. He shared a business called Lou's Barbeque and Grill in Hot Springs, AR. He was also a retired member of the Soul Star Motorcycle Club. On February 22, 2018, Louis very peacefully passed away. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Lynda Forbes, Doris Forbes, Theodore Forbes, and Lois Calloway.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife, Dettranay Wiseman-Calloway of Hot Springs, AR; mother of his children Ethel Green Edmond of Texarkana, AR; his children, Nakai (Vincent) Calloway-Johnson of Garland, TX, Louis (Shameka) Calloway, Jr. and Sedra Calloway of Texarkana, AR; step-children LaDaren Jones of Little Rock, AR and LaShawn (Kim) Jones of Hot Springs, AR; 19 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was blessed to have two sets of siblings. From his father he leaves Lorraine Garrett of Memphis, TN, Connie (Chuck) Johnson of Helmet, CA, Cathy (Kenny) Polk and Arthur Calloway of San Bernardino, CA, Andre (Jennifer) Calloway of Whittier, CA and LaWonda (David) Ross of Victorville, CA.
From his mother he leaves, Nathaniel Forte and Veronica Bush of Ashdown, AR, Robert (Donna) Forbes of Mineral Springs, AR; Wanda (Eddie) Trotter of Little Rock, AR, Tim (Daphe) Forbes of Atlanta, TX, Marquis Forbes of Southaven, MS and Andre (Neally) Henderson of Texarkana, TX.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Carrigan Memorial Funeral Service at 336 E. Grand Ave. A private burial will take place on Friday, March 2, 2018 in Ashdown, AR. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and thoughts and those who stayed by his side until the very end.
