Louise Virginia
Blevins
Aug 27, 1937 — May 20, 2025
Louise Virginia Blevins, 87, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on May 20, 2025. She was one of thirteen children, born August 27, 1937, to Charlie and Alberta Butler in Ashdown, Arkansas.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Buddy Blevins; one son, Mike Thomas Blevins; a grandson, Marcus Howard; a great-grandson, Christopher Sargent; and ten siblings.
In 1955, Louise married the love of her life, Payton "Buddy" Blevins, Sr. Shortly thereafter, the couple moved to Mountain Pine, Arkansas, where they settled, started a family, and were active members of the community for nearly 70 years. Louise was a long-time member of Macedonia Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Reverand Theodis Brown Jr., where she was an active member of the church. She worked many years at Weyerhaeuser before transitioning to work in the Mountain Pine School District, from which she later retired.
Louise, or "Grandma" and "Aunt Lou" as she was affectionately called, was the matriarch of her family. She was known near and far for her skills in the kitchen; nothing could gather her family quicker than a Sunday Dinner at Grandma's house, and no family function or holiday was complete without her famous spaghetti.
All who knew Louise know that she was as sweet as the candy she kept stocked in her purse and around her home, but those who knew her best know she was as sassy as she was sweet. She could be sharp-tongued and was never afraid to speak her mind, but her honesty came from a place of love, and her words, no matter how direct, were always well-intended.
Left to cherish her memories are her children Eddie (Barbara) Blevins of Compton, California; Payton Blevins, Jr. of Pine Bluff; Arkansas Brenda Leeper of Dallas, Texas; and Kenny (Rose) Blevins, Sr. of Mountain Pine, Arkansas her sisters, Annie Mae Burns and Joyce Cook, both of Ashdown, Arkansas, 22 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Macedonia Baptist Church, 103 McCurtain Street, Mountain Pine, AR 71956. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Harvey's Chapel Baptist Church, 2515 Mountain Pine Road, Hot Springs, AR 71913. Burial will follow the service at Harmony Community Cemetery, 949 Dallas Sparkman, AR. 71763
