Marcus Gregory Long, 66 of Toledo, OH, formerly of Hot Springs passed away Friday, March 20, 2020, in Toledo, OH.
Gregory, as called by his family was born to the late Robert and Odessa Long on June 18, 1953. He was a former member of Union Missionary Baptist Church where he was baptized at an early age. He loved Christ and loved listening to worship services via satellite.
Gregory was a graduate of Hot Springs High School Class of 1971, where he was selected to be a delegate to The American Legion Boys State. He always loved music so he decided to join the school band and play drums and he continued playing in local bands and in his home.
He attended Tennessee State University in the educational field but left to explore the United States Air Force. He became a certified Fire Protector Specialist in airplane crash fires. It took him to places such as Germany, Saudi Arabia, Alaska and, American Islands.
Gregory continued to work in different capacities of employment, especially in sales. He received the honor of being selected salesman of the month while employed with Allen Tillery Dealership. He was a former employee of the Embassy Suites Hotel of Hot Springs until his health began to decline.
He loved the game of Chess, he felt Chess taught you coping skills, patience, prepared you for the moves, and the decisions you could possibly make in life.
He moved to Toledo, OH in 2014.
Those left to remember him in love and laughter include his wife of 23 years, Deborah Long of Toledo, OH; his brother, Robert Lee Long of Lakewood, CA; his sister, Wanice Long Pitts of Hot Springs; one niece, Danielle Pitts of Hot Springs; two nephews, Damien Pitts of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, and Robert Lamar (LaKeisha) Long of CA; cousins, Marion (Hubert) Upkins of Lonoke, Elton (Beverly) Smith, and Ethel Coleman all of Little Rock; his extended family, friends and former classmates.
Due to the COVID-19 virus services will be announced at a later date to celebrate his life.
