Marcus Leon Welsby, 55, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, transitioned peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. He was born in Osceola, Arkansas on September 07, 1970, to Wiley Short and Alversia Short.

Marcus was a graduate of Osceola High School. He later continued his education at National Park College, earning a Technical Certificate in Web Design.

Marcus had a deep love for the Dallas Cowboys and Arkansas Razorbacks and cherished spending time with his family. He especially adored his granddaughter, Jordan Inman, and shared a close bond with his nephew, Kenshawn Short.

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister, Pearlie Welsby.

Marcus leaves to cherish his memory his partner, Lisa Martin; his stepchildren, Courtney Richards and Corey Martin; his siblings, Kenneth Short, Cynthia Johnson, Jackie Darkins, Clarence Bingham, Eric Darkins, and Ketria Tramble; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at The Sweet Magnolia, 3456 Oliver Lancaster Blvd, Malvern, Arkansas 72104, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
