Margretta Fay
Grayer
Nov 18, 1962 — May 16, 2024
Margretta Fay Grayer, 61, transitioned on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at CHI St. Vincent Hospital, with her son and daughter embracing her during the transition. Margretta was born on November 18, 1962, in Little Rock, AR, to Charlie Lee Mitchell and Mary Saverlla Mitchell, along with her twin sister Loretta Kay.
Margretta is preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Rosie Mitchell Reed, Mary Katheryn Mitchell Murphy, and Annie Lee Mitchell.
Margretta was a proud Malvern, AR resident for most of her life. She graduated from Malvern High School, class of 1981. Shortly after high school, she met and married Michael Grayer in 1984, and from that union, they shared two children, Khawung and Martina. Margretta furthered her education by receiving a state board for vocational education certificate from Ouachita Vocational-Technical School in 1985. This marked the start of her career as a Homemaker/Home Health Aide. In 1990, she received a Home Health Aide Certificate from Memorial Hospital in Malvern, AR, and in 2000, she received her certification from the State of Arkansas Department of Human Services to practice as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
With her love of crafts, cooking, gardening, and people, Margretta leaves behind a legacy of heart. She cared for every child as if they were her own, and her love for her family was unmatched. Whether you saw her at the farmer's market, going to garage sales, or simply cooking a homemade confection, there was always a need to share with as many people as she could. Her handmade crafts have graced her loved ones' homes, and her thoughtfully curated holiday gifts left everyone with a smile. The work of her green thumb produced multiple spring blooms and hearty green plants. Even at her weakest, she would see to someone else's well-being, ensuring they were well. Her infectious laugh and smile will live on through those she touched, and her pureness of heart is one to be treasured.
Margretta leaves to cherish her memory her son, Khawung Grayer, and daughter, Martina Grayer; her twin sister, Loretta Mitchell, and sister, Martha Lynn Summerville; her brothers, Pastor Henry (Johnnie) Mitchell, Lloyd Henry (Debra) Mitchell, and Charles Edward Mitchell; four grandchildren, Devin Sanders, Malakai Grayer, Amelia Grayer, and Kinsley Grayer; and a host of nieces and nephews.
