Obituary

Michelle Renee McManus Hughes, 58, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 28, 2024, with family by her side at Belvedere Nursing & Rehab Center LLC. Michelle was born on November 16, 1965, at St. Joseph Hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She was the only child of Jane Eileen Lynch and Michael Lee Hughes.

Michelle, known by many as Shelly, accepted Christ as her lord and Savior at an early age and continued to have a strong faith throughout her life. She attended and graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1983, where she dedicated several of her teen years as a T-Stepper in school, forming some of her strongest bonds and friendships. She continued her studies and graduated as an LPN in 1992, beginning her 17-year career as a beloved nurse, until she was forced to give up her title due to her failing health and stroke in 2009.

During her nursing career, she dedicated her time to residents at nursing homes and invested time in educating newly certified nursing assistants. She ended her career in home health, where she shared a true passion and care for loving people. She was a devoted nurse, friend, daughter, sister, aunt, mother, and Nanna.

Shelly enjoyed summers in Indiana with her many cousins, loved singing karaoke, traveling, sunbathing on the lake, Christmas time spent with family, watching movies, cracking jokes, and the sound of slot machines naming winner-winner chicken dinner. Shelly loved music! Some of her favorite artists were The Rolling Stones, Toby Keith, Pat Benatar, Heart, Tina Turner, Shawina Twain, and Patsy Cline. She will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know how bright her light shined.

Shelly is Preceded in death by her immediate family: Father, Michael Lee Hughes; her, Daughter Ashley Dawn Downie; and her, granddaughter Ella Jane Woodall.

Shelly leaves to cherish her memory loving parents, mother and stepfather, Janie (Mike) Hampton; her stepmother Linda Hughes; her daughter Kristi Woodall; her son Dustin McManus and Cheyenne Johnston; her sisters, Jenni Harvey, Cassi (Nick) Brown; her grandchildren Micah Woodall, Sara Woodall, Elisha Woodall, Lilly McManus and Daniel Michelle McManus; her nephews, Grant Feemster, Ethan Brown, Riley Roby, Brady Harvey, and a host of beloved relatives and friends.
