Obituary

Nellie Pearl Sims, age 88 of Hot Springs, AR passed away peacefully on May 9, 2021. She was born on February 10, 1933, in Smackover Arkansas, to Joe and Nannie Sims.

She is preceded in death by both her parents; two sisters, Roena and Roberta; two brothers, Jake and James; daughter; Carolyn, and her granddaughter; Octavia.

She graduated from Smackover Training School in 1954. Shortly after she moved to Hot Springs Arkansas to attend Brian's business college. She accepted Christ at an early age, her membership began at Greater St. Paul Baptist Church where she served in various capacities until her heavenly journey began on Mother's Day morning. Nellie has been a pillar in our community, for over 40 years. Whether it's her soulful cooking, gardening, sewing, talking on the phone, shopping, or her loving spirit, she would capture any heart. You could always count on a smile, a joke, her fixing you a plate of the BEST cooking, including her famous teacakes and pound cakes. Most would know her by Nellie Pearl, Momma, Nana, she is also the perfect example of what a God-fearing woman would be. She loved the Lord and giving back to her community.

She is survived by her children; Patricia (Raymond) Moore of Hot Springs, Lisa Braxton of Benton Arkansas, Jerome (Marlenia) Sims of Hot Springs, Sandye Vines, and Sondra Sims both of North Little Rock Arkansas, her sister's; Martha (Booker) Harris, Flossie May Lewis, her brother's; Joe (Debrah) Sims and Leon Sims. 13 grandkids and 22 great-grandkids, 10 great-great grandkids. A host family and friends. Her spirit will live on the inside of all of those she touched. She will greatly be missed.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 13, 2021, from 10- Noon at Carrigan Memorial Chapel 336 E. Grand Ave Hot Springs Ar, 71901. The family has requested a private burial service.
