Obituary

Oletha Smith in her 69 th season of life peacefully transitioned from this walk of life on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at CHI-St. Vincent Hospital, Hot Springs, AR.  She was born July 19, 1948 in Blytheville, AR to her loving parents, Alvin and Oletha Turner Smith, II. She was born five minutes before her twin sister, Oleta.

Oletha was a graduate of the Historic Langston High School Class of 1966.  She worked in many retail stores during her working career.

She was a former member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and Washington Memorial Church of God in Christ.  She was currently a member of New Life Christian Fellowship Center under the leadership of her brother, Bishop Theodore Smith.  She exhibited her faith by serving as a Church Mother and on the culinary and pantry ministry.

Oletha loved to shop and cook.  She especially loved to entertain her family doing the holidays and special occasions.  She loved her family and doing for others.

Those completing the journey before her include her aforementioned parents; two brothers, Alvin Smith, Jr. and Fred Smith; one sister, Margaret Smith; one granddaughter, Angel Sykes; and her extended family.

Her precious memory will forever be cherished in the heart of her children; Victor "Popeye" Smith, (Belitha Counts), James 'Slink" (Ty) Smith and  Alain Smith all of Hot Springs and Morris Dewayne (Sabrina) Smith of Orlando, FL; her longtime friend and the father of her sons, Victor Robinson of Malvern; her siblings,  Bishop Theodore "Ted" Smith and her twin sister, Oleta Smith both of Hot Springs, Minister Edward (Jackie) Smith of Kansas City, MO, Alain (Elder Melvin) Carter of Overland Park, KS and Bruce Johnson of Davenport, IA; her sister-in-love, Naomi Mayberry of Hot Springs; ten grandchildren, Victoria, Traivon, Kendrick, Tykerria and Isaiah, Taten Smith and Donte' Barrett, Autumn Sykes and Collin and Akyra Brown; two great grandchildren, Tristan and Kyn'lee Smith; her aunts and uncles, Stella Fields, Billy "Sacky" Washington, Sheila Washington, Wilbert (Tommie Mae) Reed, Ruby Dawson, Lexie (Jack) Taylor and Onie Mae Mack; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

A celebration of her life will be held 12.00 PM, Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Greater St. Paul Baptist Church, 497 Crescent Ave where Rev. Kenneth R. Gulley is the pastor and Evangelist Cherri Wilson will deliver the eulogy.  Visitation will be from 5:00 -6:30 Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the funeral home.
