Priscilla Mae
Buttry
Jun 5, 1947 — Jan 23, 2026
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
Priscilla Mae Alexander Buttry of Newton, Kansas, born June 5, 1947. A loving wife, mother, and friend transitioned from this life on January 23, 2026, in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Priscilla graduated from Wichita South High School in 1965 and later married and raised 5 children. Priscilla refused to go the traditional path; she forwent secretarial school and enrolled in truck driving school instead. While there, she met Bradley, asked him out, and their 42-year romance began. She went from being the mother of five to being a wife and mother of six with the addition of Brad's son to their blended family.
Once out of truck driving school, she began work at the Red Cross, driving the Blood Mobile. Later in life, she became an inventory specialist with Target Stores, where she retired after 23 years.
Priscilla bravely overcame cancer and refused to burden others with care. Her relentless determination undoubtedly pulled her through. Oftentimes, she would have treatment and return to work with her one-of-a-kind smile on her face and her Pepsi in her hand. Once she retired, she joined Brad on the road. They spent the next 20 years as owners of Double B trucking, traveling the country. She enjoyed seeing the US and visiting places she never imagined she would.
Once Brad retired for good, they came to Hot Springs, Arkansas. Priscilla fell in love and deemed Hot Springs their forever home. They united with Angel Gabriel Church of God in Christ, where she served as an Usher, member of the Pastor's Aid, church custodian, and decorator. She loved to be in fellowship and out of fellowship with her church family.
Priscilla was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret (Spangler) Erwin; her father, Wayne Alexander; her daughter DeeDee Bates; her brother, Jim Alexander; her brother, Merle Alexander; and her brother-in-law, Rick Buttry.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Bradley G. Buttry, and her sister, Sue Jones. her children, Mike Bates (Melody),, Gina Frieberg, Dana Bates, Tad Bates (Annie), Brian Buttry, her brother, Jack Irwin, her grandchildren Bradley, Justin, Victoria, Kiarra, Ryann, Ally, Trace, Shayna, Adain, Hannah, Dakota, Breanna, sister-in-law Brenda Alexander, and sister-in-law Kim Reid, her daughter-in-love, Danielle Brown (Maddison, London, Aaliyah), as well as her sisters-in-Christ, Carra Turner and Patricia Davis, her Angel Gabriel Church family, her Giving Team Family, and many other extended relatives and friends.
She was surrounded by those who loved her, and she was never short on giving love. Her genuine heart and beautiful smile touched the lives of so many. Her affection, kindness, and spiritual devotion will be cherished in our memory.
