Rafael "Tony"
Antonio Squires
Aug 24, 1962 — Apr 7, 2019
In Loving Memory
Rafael "Tony" Antonio Squires, age 56, of Hot Springs, passed away on April 7, 2019.
Rafael was born August 24, 1962, in Hot Springs, Arkansas and was a lifelong member of the Woodridge Street Church of Christ. He was a graduate of Hot Springs High School Class of 1980. He was a member of the Hot Springs High School Marching Band. His instrument of choice was the saxophone and believe it or not, he really loved to sing. In fact, he was known for singing the falsetto part on "Reasons" by Earth Wind and Fire and many more.
After graduating from high school, Rafael attended college at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He was the custodian at the Church of Christ for over thirty years. Additionally, he worked for Oaklawn Race Track and Walmart. But, the best job Rafael ever had was when we worked alongside his best and childhood friend, Lafayette Lawson, as his cornerman. More than anything, Rafael loved Bruce Lee and everything about martial arts.
He is survived by his siblings, two brothers, Donnie Burns of Newport News, VA and Ricardo Squires of Glendale, RI; two sisters, Deborah Beene of Milwaukee, WI and Angelia Squires of Conway, AR and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents George V. Squires and Christine Squires (Graves).
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 13, 2019, at the Woodridge Street Church of Christ located at 133 Woodridge Street in Hot Springs. Bro. Rickey Smith will officiate. Burial will immediately follow the home going services at Crestview Cemetery. Brothers of the church and classmates will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are welcome to the visitation on Friday, April 12. 2019 from noon until 5:00 p.m. at Carrigan Memorial Funeral Services located at 336 East Grand Avenue, Hot Springs, AR 71901.
Arrangements for Rafael's celebration of life are under the direction of Chester Carrigan of Carrigan Memorial Funeral Services, Inc. in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
