Raymond Leon
Arnold
Jan 11, 1962 — Nov 25, 2023
Raymond Leon Arnold, 61 affectionately known as Ray, entered this world on January 11, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois, born to Reverend Samuel L. Arnold and Evelyn Gray-Arnold. On November 25, 2023, Ray gracefully earned his wings and embarked on his celestial journey.
Ray pursued his education in the Hamburg School District and proudly graduated from Hamburg High School in 1980. His thirst for knowledge led him to briefly attend college at UAPB in Pine Bluff, Arkansas for a semester before relocating to Los Angeles, California, where he resided with his Uncle Willie and Aunt Georgia. At a young age, Ray was baptized by Reverend E.J. Avery and became an integral part of the Bethel AME Church in FT Hill, Arkansas, alongside his grandmother, Sutilla Arnold, and his younger sister, Sharon. Later on, he, along with his parents, joined the Soldiers Chapel AME Church in Hamburg, Arkansas, under the guidance of Reverend Gerald C. Davis and was actively involved as a faithful member, serving as a Junior Usher, YPD, and President of the Hamburg Community Choir.
During his time in California, Ray co-founded a non-profit organization called The Exodus Group alongside Shirley Williams, aimed at aiding homeless individuals by providing clothing, food, and blankets. His altruistic spirit and passion for helping others in need were evident throughout his life.
Raymond was a member of the Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles, California, under the leadership of Apostle Frederick K.C Price. Eventually, he returned to Hamburg, Arkansas, to assist his father and younger siblings, displaying an act of utmost selflessness by donating his kidney to his ailing father.
Raymond's devotion to God was unwavering, and he found immense joy in reading the Bible, sharing laughter through jokes, indulging in wrestling matches, relishing meals, and, above all, cherishing his family. His love extended to his furry companions, particularly his beloved cat, Shea.
Throughout his life, Ray held various employment positions, showcasing his versatility and dedication. From being a delivery driver for Farmer Florist and Kroger in Hamburg, Arkansas, to managing Best Western Hotel and Jade RDM, Highway Department, and working as a butcher at Value Foods in Rose City, his work ethic was remarkable.
Ray's infectious personality and his ability to connect with anyone without a hint of reservation or judgment will forever be cherished. His beaming smile, hearty laughs, and compassionate heart will remain etched in the memories of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Raymond was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Gray-Arnold, his father, Reverend Samuel L. Arnold, his sister Evangelist Carolyn Cromwell, his brother Samuel "Lil Sam" Arnold Jr., and his niece, Sincere Arnold.
He leaves behind to cherish his legacy his only child, Keenan Rashad Arnold Perry of Crossett, Arkansas; four sisters: Sharon Arnold-Whitaker-Walls, Meyonna Arnold of Lake Village, Arkansas, Peggy (Dewayne) Robinson Brown of Bastrop, Louisiana, Chanel Bankstin-Carter of Virginia; three brothers: Lawrence Arnold of Little Rock, Arkansas, LaDerron Arnold of Lake Village, Arkansas, Rob Robinson of Omaha, Nebraska; his godson, DeAndre Jackson of Portland, Oregon; His Bonus Mother Katherine Fenison, Crossett, Arkansas, God-Father Freddie Lewis of Chicago, Illinois, Bonus Uncle & Aunt Johnny (Kathy) Dupree of Crossett, Arkansas, Bonus Brother; Roger (Vivian) Fenison, Bastrop, Louisiana, Earl (Angie) Burl Chicago, Illinois, Connell (Tracy) Warren, Arkansas, Michael ( Kenesha ) Fenison Eudora, Arkansas, and Aloynus ( Carolyn) Fenison, Crossett, Arkansas, Bonus Sisters; Carol Fenison Chicago, Illinois, LaWanda Wheeler, Monticello, Arkansas, and Shiree Fenison, Crossett, Arkansas several adoring nieces including Jazzmine, (whom he named), nephews; countless cousins, as well as a multitude of other relatives and friends.
