Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce Rebecca Jane (Wyrick) Galbert has gained her heavenly wings on March 17, 2025, at the age of 72. Rebecca (Becky) was born December 11, 1952, to Wilmer Dean Wyrick and Girtha Lee (Hildreth) Wyrick.

During her childhood years, Becky was a member of Saint Phillips AME Church in Magnolia AR. She attended the missionary meetings with her grandmother, Lurlean Howard Martin, and became an usher with her mother, Girtha Wyrick. Becky was a member of the church choir and played the piano for Sunday morning services.

Moving to Hot Springs AR in her adult years, Becky became a member of Visitors Chapel AME Church in Hot Springs AR. She was a member of the church choir, a class leader, a member of the Women's Missionary Society and the Stewardess board, served as the youth department chaperone, and many other church projects. She was on the church finance committee and was the secretary for the AME Quarterly Conference. Also, she assisted as the temporary keeper of the church food bank.

In 1972, Becky attended Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia AR, and completed her Business Degree at National Park Community College in Hot Springs AR. She worked for various banking institutions in the state of Arkansas for 36 years. Her last endeavor was with Combined Federal Credit Union in Hot Springs AR when she retired.

Becky married the love of her life, John Galbert, and they were united for 32 years. Becky was the matriarch of the family. Nothing was too big nor too small when it came to the love of her family. She was always very strong-willed and supportive of our family and her community. No one was a stranger to Becky, and she loved with a big heart and had a servant's heart of gold. She had an infectious smile, and her personality was bigger than life. You couldn't stop yourself from loving her.

There is not enough time nor words to describe how incredible Becky was and the heartbreak our family is feeling during this mournful time. Please wrap us in your prayers as we attempt to navigate life without her.

Becky was preceded in joining the Lord by her parents, Wilmer Dean Wyrick, and Girtha Wyrick; her husband, John Galbert; her brothers, Wilma Ray Wyrick, Larnell Wyrick, Larry Jefferson, and David Hardy.

Cherishing her love and memories is her sons, Eric Galbert of Hot Springs AR, and Jeremy (Marie) Galbert of San Antonio TX; her sisters, Chetera Collins of Los Angeles, CA, and Kathleen Askew of Little Rock AR; her brothers, Raymond Hardy of El Dorado AR, Wesley Grissom of Pine Bluff AR and John Michael Wyrick of Magnolia AR. Granddaughter, Erica Galbert and great-granddaughter Tiana Hartley of San Antonio TX. She also leaves a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins cherishing her love and memories.

The funeral will be held on March 28, 2025, at 11:00AM, with a visitation one hour prior at Visitors Chapel A.M.E. Church, 319 Church Street, Hot Springs, AR 71901.
