Obituary

Reginald "Reggie" Wayne Johnson, 62, of Hot Springs, AR, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023, in Hot Springs, AR.  He was born to Norvell Lee Johnson and Hazel Lee (Gray) Johnson on August 13, 1960.  They both preceded him in death, as well as, older siblings, Norvell Lee Johnson, Jr. and Betty Jean Johnson.

Reginald confessed to Christ at an early age and attended the Washington Memorial Church of God in Christ with his mother and siblings.  He was a 1979 Hot Springs High School graduate where he played basketball.  Reggie worked at Weyerhaeuser for 12 years, and he also worked alongside a close friend, Dennis Casselberry, at his company. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, riding his bike, and handicap racing at Oaklawn.  He was also a sports enthusiast. Some of his favorite sayings, "Ain't no fun when the rabbit got the gun" and "Be strong". Reginald never met a stranger and had an unconditional love for people of all kinds.

Reginald W. Johnson is survived by his daughter, Regina (Jamie) Foster of Mansfield, TX, son, Reginald Johnson, Jr., and granddaughters—Amaya Wesley and Amyra Foster. He is also survived by his siblings, Dorothy Black, Bonnie King, and Jimmy Johnson all of Hot Springs, AR; Glinda Clayton, Linda Womack, and Martin Johnson all of Phoenix, AZ; Mary Johnson of Chicago, IL; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 5, 2023, at Union Baptist Church with the Pastor William E. Watkins II of Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery.
The family of Reginald Wayne Johnson would like to thank the doctors and staff of Genesis Cancer Center, CHI St. Vincent, National Park Medical Center, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and Arkansas Hospice;  Union Missionary Baptist Church family, and Pastor Corey Scott.
We take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to our family and friends both far and near for the love given to us during this difficult time.  Each act of kindness has not gone unnoticed.  Your prayers, calls, visitations, floral offerings, social media responses, food, and cards have all given us comfort and strength during our time of sorrow.  We pray for God's richest blessings on each of you.
