Obituary

Robert "Bob" Earl Candy, 78 of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2026. Bob was born on August 19, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri, to his father, Emerson Earl Candy, and his mother, Lucille Candy (née Tuck).

Bob had a deep love for his pets and a creative spirit. He enjoyed drawing, drafting, and inventing useful gadgets for the home. He also loved spending time with friends, shooting pool, singing karaoke, laughing, and enjoying life. Bob will be remembered for his humor, creativity, love of family, and friends. He lived a very active life full of fishing, cruising on the water, taking in the scenery, and sharing stories from his younger years. His love for life and storytelling brought joy to those around him.

On December 7, 1966, Bob joined the United States Navy, where he was stationed aboard the USS Richard B. Anderson destroyer during the Vietnam War. After returning to the United States, he married Michele Curtiss of Sedalia, Missouri, in January 1973, and moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, where they began building a life and had their son, Robert Kyle Candy.

Bob later joined the Little Rock Fire Department, where he served his community for over 20 years before retiring. On August 2, 1992, he married Margaret “Margo” Ann Turnage. Bob and Margo enjoyed hosting family and friends at the lake and especially loved spending time with their grandkids. Together they shared many happy years in their home on Lake Hamilton until Margo’s passing on July 31, 2012.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Sally Ann Dierkens, his wife Margaret (July 31, 2012), and his ex-wife, the mother of his son, Michele Curtiss (2018).

Bob is survived by his son, Robert Kyle Candy, and wife Lindsey of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; stepdaughters Tami Dawn Quilici (and husband, Ken), Ginger Cherre’s Ann Roberson; and stepson Michael David King. He was a proud grandfather to Jackson Candy, Roman Candy, Seth Pinkerson, Alexzander Robertson, Hunter Quilici, Hailee Quilici, Doug Griggs, Ian King, Landon King, Jordan King, and Emilee Roberson.

Bob will be interred alongside his beloved wife, Margo, with honors for his military service. The memorial service will be on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 11:00 am at The Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 W. Maryland Ave, North Little Rock, AR. 72120.
