Robert Louis
Shaw
Aug 27, 1956 — Jan 1, 2026
Robert Louis "Bobby" Shaw, 69, passed away on January 1, 2026. He was born on August 27, 1956, at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.
Bobby was the beloved son of the late Catheryn Leah Shaw and the late Elbert Bernard Shaw, Sr. He grew up rooted in two homes he loved deeply: Chicago, Illinois, with his mother's family, and Hot Springs, Arkansas, with his father's family. Those two places shaped his character, his faith, and his enduring love of family.
Known for his honesty, warmth, intelligence, and easygoing spirit, Bobby was the kind of man people trusted and enjoyed being around. He had a great sense of humor, especially with his brother, and could make even ordinary moments feel light and memorable. He loved his God, his family, his church, his friends, and music, and he carried those loves with him in everything he did.
Bobby worked for 12 years with the United States Postal Service in Chicago. A good athlete and a true teammate, he made many lasting friendships playing on the Post Office softball team. He also enjoyed playing football and basketball with his brother, Sonny, and with Sonny's fraternity brothers and friends. Whether on the field, the court, or at work, Bobby brought reliability, kindness, and a quiet strength that people respected.
He is survived by his beloved wife Rita, his only brother, Elbert 'Sonny' Shaw Jr., and his wife Kimberly of Champaign Illinois, his children and grandchildren, Kristen and her children, Jalen, Jordan, Kourtney Kamille, and Jaxon, Robert Jr. and his children, Titus, Robert Leonidas, Camille, Taylor, and Nehemiah, and Shakela and her children, Eva Stevenson and Erielle Mitchel. Bobby had many nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved and who loved him.
