Obituary

Ronnie Eugene Smith, Sr. 78, heard the angels sing his greeting to heaven the morning of Friday, March 1, 2024, at his home in Mineral Springs, AR with his daughter holding his hand. Ronnie was born November 27, 1945, in Arkadelphia, AR to James Eugene and Mary Catherine (Cox) Smith.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, his loving wife, Sharon Rucker-Smith, and his best friend and favorite fishing buddy, Blu.

Ronnie always had a smile and a helping hand for anyone in need. He loved cooking, gardening, working in his flower beds, and sharing all of his talents with his loved ones. It was not an uncommon thing for Ronnie to show up with a meal, fresh veggies, and a few bulbs to plant for someone. His favorite pastime was fishing.

He will be missed by his son, Ronnie Smith Jr. (Heather), his daughter Shannon Smith-Frymire, his big sister, Linda Smith-Baker (Jimmy), his little brother Kenny Smith (Earlene), his two grandsons, Clayton Caple and Alex Acevedo, his granddaughter Halle Blackwood (Megan), and his only great-granddaughter Esmè Grace Blackwood, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A special thank you to his cousin, Donald Sitzes, for giving the family a place to have such great fishing time. Our family will be forever grateful for all of the memories we had at Toothacres.

His daughter, Shannon, wanted to say a special thank you to Elite Hospice from Mena, AR for their love and continual support. Losing my Dad was the hardest thing yet, and not having to worry about a single thing but being there for him was such a blessing and a gift.  Ashton, RN, Luke, RN, Mark, the Chaplin, Jessica, RN, and Tonya, LSW are a team that definitely walks in the calling our Lord asked them to. I will be eternally grateful for the love they have shown in this time.

There will be a celebration of life at Toothacres at a later date when all of the family can attend.
